Due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’, Hollybush Garden Centre in Wolverhampton had to cancel some bookingsHollybush Garden CentreHollybush Garden Centre

A ‘gutted’ mum said her five-year-old was left thinking ‘Santa doesn’t want to see her anymore’ after a garden centre cancelled their grotto visit.

Due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’, Hollybush Garden Centre had pulled the booking, which was scheduled for Sunday afternoon (December 7).

Although alternative dates were offered, the busy mum said it was the ‘only day she had free’.

While she said it ‘couldn’t be helped’, she said the situation was ‘gutting’, especially for her five-year-old, who ‘now thinks Santa doesn’t want to see her anymore’.

She took to social media to share the email from the Wolverhampton garden centre, which read: “I am so sorry to let you know that due to unforeseen circumstances, we are unable to run your Grotto session this weekend.

“We will issue your full refund straight away and there is nothing you need to do.

“We know how special a Grotto visit is for families and we are truly sorry for the disappointment this may cause.

“We are introducing Breakfast with Santa on selected Saturdays very soon. If you would like first refusal before the dates are released to the public, please reply to this email and we will reserve a place on the early access list for you.

“Alternatively, we do have some weekday availability for Santa’s Grotto. Thank you for your understanding.”

The mum later commented to say she’d called the Shareshill garden centre, and was told the email was ‘genuine’.

She added: “Apparently, it’s not time slots that have been cancelled, they have just picked people at random to cancel.

“They must be overbooked/understaffed. Seems I’m just one of the unlucky ones.”

Someone else also posted to say they’d also had their planned Saturday lunchtime grotto visit cancelled on Wednesday, December 3.

They wrote: “I called them straight away and spoke with their marketing manager, who couldn’t apologise enough but said they’ve got so much sickness they didn’t have a choice.

“She has instead been able to transfer our booking to one of the Breakfast with Santa sessions next week.

“Apparently they’ve put on more sessions for the people who they’ve had to cancel.”

BirminghamLive has approached Hollybush Garden Centre for comment.
