Hi everyone,
I need some help identifying a problem on my Dracaena marginata ‘Sunray’.
Problem description:
Small round brown crusty spots have appeared on the leaves.
- They are flat, dry, and hard
- Each one has a slightly raised yellow/white center
- They are attached to the leaves, but come off easily when scraped with a fingernail
- Some leave a small mark after removal, others leave almost no mark
- They are completely dry, and there is no insect or bug underneath
I never saw any crawling insects on the plant before or after these crusts appeared.
My questions:
- What are these crusts called?
- What caused them / where did they come from?
- How did they appear?
- How can I treat this problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Babe those *are* the insects
Scale insects. I had a dracaena marginata that came with them. I worked for MONTHS trying to rid it of them. Every time I thought it was over, they were back. I eventually trashed it.
