Starting next year, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will offer its Garden Academy horticulture training statewide. The 10-week online program features videos, a broad range of horticultural topics to help gardeners build practical knowledge and skills and two track programs: Iowa Master Gardener Volunteer or Iowa Home Gardener. Both tracks complete the same training.Applications for the spring Iowa Master Gardener track will be open from Jan. 5 through Jan. 30 on the Iowa Master Gardener website, with a list of participating counties. Iowa Home Gardener participants will be able to purchase their spot in the course starting Feb. 2. Garden applications will be offered again in the fall from Aug. 31 to Nov. 6. Applications will be accepted July 20 through Aug. 14, and the home gardener track will go on sale Aug. 17.
