Hands-on session will help Medina County gardeners map out 2026 plans, from soil prep to raised-bed and container designs

With winter settling in, the Ohio State University Extension in Medina County is encouraging residents to start dreaming ahead to spring.
The office will host a hands-on Garden Dreams: Garden Planning Workshop on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, designed to help new and experienced gardeners map out their 2026 gardens.

Medina County gardeners can learn soil prep, layout skills and planning basics at the OSU Extension’s Jan. 24 Garden Dreams workshop.

The interactive session, led by Master Gardener Volunteers, will guide participants through soil preparation, sun mapping, critter control, and options for flower, vegetable, raised-bed or container gardens. Attendees will also sketch a customized garden plan and learn practical steps for getting started. Organizers describe the workshop as ideal for beginners and a thoughtful gift for aspiring gardeners.
The workshop will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the OSU Extension Office, 4046 Medina Road, at the corner of Foote Road and Route 18. Doors open at 9 a.m. The cost is $10 per person, and space is limited.
