When planting fruit trees how much do you take into consideration the typical wind direction. I planted four apple trees (two fuji and two granny smith) in northwestern lower Michigan (Cadillac area) in a diamond pattern hoping that that configuration would help pollination.
root base, when i moved into my house there were a lot of young trees planted as if they were shrubs, had to remove eventually all but one which has to come down next year. Small property, lifting my paving stones now (tripping hazard) as well as the concrete slab in front of my shed, can no longer open the doors completely. It is a pine, have loved the shade but given the size way too close to the foundation. I truly hate to see it go, was 4 ft when I moved in, taller than my 2 storey house now.
So concerning blueberries: We have lots of huckleberries/wild blueberries around here, especially around peat-bogs, lakes, and in some mid-older growth forests.
Will THOSE cross-pollinate with blueberries?
I’m curious because I’m just starting to build my food-forest. If I’m wrong about huckleberries, let me know :-).
Keep up the good job, buddy. Your channel has helped me a lot.
Yep! All my blueberry plants except one died last winter. This year the one that was left gave me zero berries because it didn’t get pollinated. Time to add more in the spring!

Appreciate you sharing all your knowledge!❤
This was a lot of great information!
Where do you get your trees from? I'm trying to find a good nursery here in Metro Detroit with heirloom varieties
I hope to have an area ready for fruit trees next fall. Does anyone have a recommendation for a nursery in South Central PA?
