“We wanted to do something in her memory, to remember the joy she brought to all our lives”
Anwyl’s Imogen Suffell visits Eccleston St Mary’s Primary School where Anwyl is among the donors helping create a memorial garden
Children at a primary school are playing a key role in designing a memorial garden for a ‘special little girl’ who spread joy in the community.
Eccleston St Mary’s Primary School launched a fundraising campaign earlier this year to help create a garden as a lasting tribute to Hannah Faith Green who sadly passed away in November last year. With the support of the wider community and local businesses, including a donation “Love From Anwyl”, they’ve so far raised more than £18,000 towards their £30,000 target.
Head teacher Jacqueline Birchall said: “Hannah was a very special little girl, who brought joy to all who knew her. We wanted to do something in her memory, to remember the joy she brought to all our lives.
“The idea of the memorial garden was born as a lasting tribute. Fundraising has gone beyond the school community and we’re grateful to everyone who’s supported the appeal, donated materials and resources or volunteered their time.”
Fundraisers hosted by the school have included Hannah’s Dance for Joy and Hannah’s Joy Fest Local businesses have supported the appeal, with Anwyl Homes donating £1,000 from their Love From Anwyl initiative linked to the now completed Parr Meadows development.
Hannah’s school friends have helped design the memorial garden. Area sales manager Imogen Suffell visited the school to see the progress and learn about the children’s plans.

Imogen said: “We were really touched by the request for support from Eccleston St Mary’s Primary School for the memorial garden. It’s inspiring to see how the children have given so much thought to the design of the garden to ensure Hannah’s memory lives on.
“The fact that the wider neighbourhood has come together to help make the children’s plans a reality demonstrates the strong sense of community in Eccleston.”
The plans for the memorial garden include a seating area and stage to provide a welcoming space for performances, outdoor lessons, and group gatherings. There will also be a creative zone where children can use natural materials, outdoor blackboards and their imaginations to play and create.
“There will be a remembrance area for Hannah, which will include a peaceful garden filled with sensory plants, a gentle water feature, and meaningful donated items that reflect Hannah’s joyful nature and favourite things,” Jacqueline added. “The garden will be a beautiful and lasting space for reflection and remembrance – a tribute to Hannah and to the kindness of our school community.”
