UConn women’s basketball’s March 1 matchup at St. John’s will take place at Madison Square Garden, the teams announced on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. ET on TNT, Tru TV and HBO Max. The arena serves as a home court for the Red Storm’s men’s basketball team, though Joe Tartamella’s squad typically plays at the on-campus Carnesecca Arena.
When the Huskies originally released their full schedule, the contest at St. John’s was listed without a venue. The schools faced off at UBS Arena — home to the NHL’s New York Islanders — in 2023 and 2024 but battled at Carnesecca Arena last season. Now, UConn will return to the world’s most famous arena for the first time in a decade. The Huskies last played there on Dec. 28, 2015, earning a 83-73 victory over Maryland in the Maggie Dixon Classic.
St. John’s is now one of three Big East programs set to host UConn in a larger venue. The Huskies will play Providence at Amica Mutual Pavilion on Dec. 31, Creighton at CHI Health Center on Jan. 11 and now the Red Storm at MSG. The latter contest will close out the regular season.
In the meantime, UConn’s next game is set for Saturday, Dec. 13 at USC.
