HENDERSON — The Daisy Garden Club held its regular monthly meeting on Nov. 17 at the Crossroad Convention Center. President Vivian Bullock called the meeting to order and gardener Laura Dudley served as hostess.

The devotion was led by Gardener Brenda Holloway-Lofton with a reflection on “Gratitude for the Harvest” and a focus on scripture. Gardener Edith Carroll gave the financial report and youth report. The youth decorated hats and baskets using different types of flowers. Gardeners discussed reports on unfinished and new business.

Two of the club’s own veterans — gardeners Darryl Brown and Charles Lofton, both former marines — were honored by Bullock and other Daisy Garden Club members.

The program was presented by Gardener Laura Dudley. The topic was “Helpful Hints on Decorating for Christmas.” Dudley shared that large outdoor pots are great for recycling, using poinsettias with live branches such as pine, cedar, nandina and holly.

Pinecones, sprayed with Christmas colors, make great decorations for baskets of all sizes. And for gift boxes, one can make bows out of the same paper that they wrap the box in.

Gardener Dorothy Perry thanked the hostess. Gardener Patricia Cooper blessed the food and delivered the closing prayer.

The next club meeting will be held at Crossroad Event Center on Dec. 22.
