So built these garden beds in prep for spring and my wife wants me to add another board deeper what would be the best way to do this with out having to rebuild the whole thing

You’ll have to rebuild it soon anyway, that wood will rot. Those walls look quite thin.

You could maybe put another “corner upright board” on either side of each existing one (so not in the corners but right next to each existing corner board), making those boards tall enough to go from the current soil level to just over the top of the second horizontal board. Then screw the horizontal boards to the new corner boards. So you’d need 8 corner boards and four horizontal ones for each bed.

Just add another vertical at each corner tall enough to attach the next row.
I’d also add a vertical at the middle of each long side.

What is your wife’s logic for going deeper? The plants don’t care how high off of ground level they are. There is some thought that a high enough raised bed keeps pests out, but I’ve never had that work.
Unless I’m missing something, I’d dump some good dirt in those guys and put some seeds in it.
Just curious but why? Does she think the plants roots will only grow the depth of the raised beds and refuse to go into the ground? I have almost everything in my garden in pots including my fruit trees. My fruit trees are peaches, nectarines, nectaplums, plums, figs, and apples. I bet I could grow trees in those raised beds lol

back the screws out( this will allow you to sort out why things didnt line up as well) and cut new corner pieces you can use the previous corner pieces mid span to keep the beds /layers from moving apart- you may consider a piece of 2×4 or something mid span to prevent bowing which is likely when you fill with soil particularly with the size lumber you chose for the project
that said even 2 by stock could bow over time with soil weight but either way it reduces the pull on the corners so when the wood is slowly losing integrity you still manage to get more life out of it

I am trying to understand why these forms are desired. Also, the side boards belong inside and not outside the stakes.

Don’t forget about the gophers.

I used 4x4s in the corners and sunk them a tad into the ground. Easier to attach covers and such.

Also if they’re 4′ across, they’re more easily accessible.

Cheaper to get a new wife.

Just add one more vertical nailer to each corner.

He could build the bottom with a layer or two of stone or bricks and put the wood on top of it
