I’ve pulled out a couple of bits like this and been throwing them out.
They go pale and then the nastiness appears.
I usually keep them covered during the day and then air out overnight, rarely mist.
Mixture is mostly perlite and vermiculite mixed with a bit of soil to fluff it out.

Forgot to mention they’ve been uncovered for some days as I’m finding them a better lid
Looks like you’ll have to reduce moisture. They shouldn’t get even misted until the have roots and it’s important that the water doesn’t get on the leaves because inside there is not sufficient air flow for evaporation. I have made this mistake before and some make it but it is best to keep things dry as you’ll get better results. No lid.
