Help with id please

Hey everyone,

I bought this Stephania a few days ago (it is seed grown), and it was labelled as Stephania erecta. I've never seen one with a caudex as scaled looking as mine and the other two I saw for sale were smooth. I don't have any experience with this particular species though. I was wondering if Stephania erectas could have caudices like this or if it might be another sub species like Stephania suberosa or something else?

Any clarification on the ID would be great, thanks 🙂
