Zagreb’s beloved Strossmayer Promenade has reclaimed its historic charm just in time for Advent, unveiling a renewed, star-lit walkway that promises one of the most enchanting winter experiences in the city.

The restoration marks the completion of extensive works on one of the capital’s most picturesque upper-town paths, giving Gornji Grad a fresh glow for the festive season.

This year, the atmospheric “Moon Garden” has taken up residence along the newly revitalised western stretch of the promenade.

Following previous editions in Park Bela IV and Ribnjak Park, the installation has found a fitting new home beneath the iconic trees and panoramic views of Strossmayer’s walkway.

Its design pays homage to the site’s heritage while adding a layer of contemporary artistic expression.

Illuminated by thousands of twinkling lights, the promenade has been transformed into an open-air gallery featuring the work of three young Croatian artists, Matej Vuković, Tomislav Hršak and Jelena Petric.

Their installations, curated within the spatial concept devised by Umjetnost za grad’s Ana Mikin, create a uniquely magical winter scene that blends art, nature and tradition.

Visitors are invited to stroll beneath star-dusted canopies, wander through glowing “Moon Flowers”, and even take a seat on the symbolic Moon to make a special wish.

The result is an intimate, romantic and quietly enchanting corner of the city, the perfect place for an evening winter walk.

The magic is meant to be shared. Guests are encouraged to follow @mjesecevvrt on Instagram and post their own moments from the promenade using the hashtags #MjesecevVrt and #AdventZagreb.
