Vyōmam is envisioned as a residence that mirrors the homeowner’s expansive life in aerospace while grounding the family in a serene, nature-led environment. Rooted in Vastu principles, the home unites light, ventilation, and earthy materiality into a cohesive, modern yet timeless spatial narrative.
Courtyards, skylights, and fluid volumes dissolve boundaries between indoors and outdoors, creating moments of calm across communal zones. Textures like gabion walls, fluted concrete, and rubble masonry enrich the architecture, while crafted details, colour palettes, and art curate an atmosphere of warmth and familial identity.

Each private space reflects its inhabitant through tailored palettes, natural materials, and subtle craft accents. Together, these elements transform Vyōmam into a multigenerational sanctuary that celebrates memory, belonging, and shared rituals, across generations.

[Birds singing] [Ar. Amirah]: Born from the
Sanskrit for ‘sky’, [Music starts] ‘Vyomam’ is where the sky folds into a home. A place where vastness
meets belonging. [Water lapping] It’s like a dialogue
between earth and ether. Here, architecture is not merely to build a shelter. It actually shapes serenity, connection, and continuity. Hi, I’m Amirah from
Bodhi Design Studio. Join me for an
exclusive home tour of Vyomam in Bengaluru. To watch premium videos, and access PDF ebooks
with house plans, log on to buildofy.com. The link is in the
description below. This house is designed
for Ramaneni sir. He is a defense specialist and aerospace engineer. Ram sir’s passion
towards his work and interest to innovation actually inspired
this name Vyomam, which means
‘boundless sky’. This project is located in a 8,400 sq. ft. northeast
corner plot in a serene gated community in Sarjapur Road ,
called Sunny Brooks. So, this green cover
and the climate, actually inspired
us to go for a porous architecture,
where there’s a dialogue between
the built and unbuilt. If you look at the elevation, it’s mainly fluted
concrete panels, random rubble cladding, and white walls, with greenery around. Worked around two axes, for spatial planning, an east-west axis and
a north-south axis. After leaving a considerable garden space in the front, we placed the car parking
in the back, and created an entry, the pedestrian entry, along the axis. We enter into a foyer, after a verandah, which is next to
a water body. This water body acts like a threshold between
the built and unbuilt. The front verandah with this northeast garden is one of the favorite spaces for the clients, where we have a deck which is planned around the already
existing tree. We enter into a foyer, and, from the
foyer, to the left, we have the living room. Now, from the formal living, we go up into
the dining area. When you open the main door, your focus goes into
the central courtyard with this mural
in the front. This is a courtyard that kind of anchors this entire
three floors together. As a family, what
matters the most to them is the
shared memories, conversations, and
and the stories they’re shared together. So, keeping this in mind, we approached House of Bersek, Priyanka Thakkar, and shared our
thoughts with her. You can see this
3D mural here and, as well as the
background one. The glass staircase
from the first floor to second floor with
the red metal frame is almost like floating. It is suspended above
this courtyard. And, as an extension to that, connecting with
Ram sir’s work, and connecting to the
Vyomam as a concept, we have this paper rocket
inspired installation, designed by our team. [Water lapping] This is the pooja
room of the house placed in the
northeast quadrant for Vastu. And, it’s surrounded
by this water body. The sound of water
is very soothing and gives a meditative
feel to the space. Opposite to the pooja, we have the family living. This is strategically placed this way, to make sure when there’s a
pooja gathering, the family living also extends as a gathering space. To break the monotony
or the rigid feel, we have added
curves to it to make it
more interesting. And, this kind of,
defines the puja space. At the end of the axis, we have the staircase. Here, you come up
through the staircase to the mezzanine area, where we have
created an office space. Even on the sliding door, we have multiple colors coming. And, as a backdrop
of the study itself we have an interesting
green texture paint. And, from the study, we have an opening
to a wooden deck in the northeast corner, which is shaded by the tree. And, this can
also be accessed from the spiral staircase
from the ground floor. In the first floor,
we first reach the first floor family living, which is connected to the double-height
family living (below). And, it also has
a balcony to the front. From this first floor
lobby space, we access Prithvi’s room. From the family living, we have floating red
metal staircase, taking you to
the next floor. For us, as a team, it is not just a staircase. It’s an art piece in itself. Going through this corridor, we can access
the master bedroom in the southwest, that overlooks
the courtyard. To this side, we have a second floor
family living room where Kartik and Sharanya
enjoy their evenings. The client-architect
relationship is is very very critical to bring out an interesting design. I would say,
we at Bodhi, feel, we should
create spaces that sit in harmony
with the context. This philosophy
actually has helped us create aesthetic
and practical spaces. A house is not
just architecture. It is a space, a living home where the character
is created by the people living in it. [Music ends]
