After >15 years of membership, the value of being a member is gone. First they removed the member first weekend on plant sales, replaced with a Friday (hello, most of us have to work for a living), and now they continued with the shitification of Lumination into squeezed section of lights that just dumps you into Fortlandia. Luminations used to be so magical, going through the Texas Hall of Hero’s with a large Christmas tree in the center, and then fun art/light installations across Fort Build, Cathedral of Oaks, etc… now it’s just sad and lazy. Not renewing my membership, the fun is gone.

I’m with you. Mostly because of the plant sale, unfortunately

I wondered if I was alone in feeling like Luminations had gotten lame. It’s not worth going anymore.

they went from old-lady-core to toddler-core at just the right timing that it’s never been the right speed for me to commit to a membership.

I mean I guess it has lost its value if all you care about going for are the events you mentioned. If you live close by and enjoy going often to see the beautiful flowers being a member is still great 🙂

I still go but didn’t like the way Fortlandia is all on the same acre with few of the big trees to shade the forts. Wandering away from one fort to go to another you couldn’t see yet was part of the fun. Now it’s just a temporary park.

The plant sale is also just not as good! There’s way less in terms of interesting plants, most of what they’ve got I can find at a local nursery. I still get a lot of value out of my membership and love the place but a lot of the recent changes have been a bummer!
