Imagine growing mushrooms at home with just a plastic jug. No farm needed. Use straw. It’s cheap and easy. Soak it in lime water for 3 hours to kill pests. Then drain. Cut open the top of the jug and drill small holes around the sides. These holes give oxygen and keep humidity right. Crush oyster mushroom spawn. Layer straw and spawn inside the jug until it’s full. Cover with plastic film and add cotton for slow air exchange. Hang the jug or place it in a corner. Spray water through the holes to keep the straw moist. Day 10. White mcelium spreads. Day 25, tiny bumps form. Day 55, full mushroom caps ready to harvest. Twist or cut them gently and they’ll regrow for another flush. Fresh mushrooms at home. Easy and fun.
