A couple who recently received the keys to their new home have expressed their shock after making a bizarre discovery in their new property’s back garden. Katie Curtis took to TikTok to detail the large find, which she now has plans for alongside her husband, Daniel.
“You are not going to believe what we found hidden in the brambles and overgrown trees, branches and bushes at the back of our boundary,” she began in a video. “We have now lived in this bungalow for three weeks and the main reason we bought it was for the amount of land it came with and the opportunity to build our forever home.”
Indeed, the size of the plot appeared to pay off as the pair uncovered a whole new project to get cracking on. Sharing footage of the pair heading across their land to the find in question, Katie continued: “We are just so excited to get started, but the first thing we need to do on the journey is clear the back of the boundary, which is massively overgrown.”
Katie and Daniel have since hired a robot – similar in appearance to a ride-on lawnmower – which is controlled by workmen and “barges into brambles”, breaking them down and transforming them into a “mulch”. “It’s very impressive, quick and effective,” Katie said as work commenced.

“Anyway, amongst it all is a caravan hidden away in there since the 1980s, untouched.” She added the previous owner of the property had since provided the key to the caravan – with Katie heading inside for the first time in a follow-up video.
“Now remember this caravan has not been touched since the 1980s,” Katie said as she showcased its discoloured green exterior – adding that the key provided didn’t work – and that Daniel had to “rip” the door off instead. Despite its state of disrepair inside, Katie admitted that she and her spouse were “excited” by their vision for its renovation.
“It’d be a cool play den for our boys, but look at the state of it,” she said. “Honestly my skin was crawling.”
However, Katie explained she’d received reassurances from Daniel that the “vision will become a reality” as he plans to completely strip out the caravan. She closed by confessing her disgust at uncovering milk and hot chocolate powder untouched for decades, not to mention a pullout bed covered in mould.
“It’s actually a really big caravan,” Katie said, however. “And I’m really excited by it.”

Writing in response, several TikTok users warned the pair against trying to transform it. “The price it’ll cost you to do up that old van you could buy one for either cheaper or same price,” one person said.
A second added: “It’ll be rotted to pieces, absolutely not worth trying to salvage any of it.” A third noted: “The previous owner was doing himself a favour, not you! It’s just work and expense getting rid of it!”
And a fourth TikTok user exclaimed: “That caravan is done hun. There is no saving that. There will be mould throughout.”
However, others expressed support for the project, including one woman who shared: “All the comments telling you what you should do is crazy! Just do what you guys want to do I’m sure whatever happens you will make it amazing.”
