I have quite a few cherry Kumato plants and I was under the impression that cherry tomatoes need to be pruned like a vining tomato but I’ve seen some sources say not to prune them. Any tips for my first time growing tomato plants?

I’ve never had any issues pruning mine. I normally just prune the bottoms so there’s no leaves for the first 10cm, then I prune again later in the season when theyre starting to get wild. Yours looks too small to prune anyway, let it get a bit bigger first. If you’ve never done it before look it up on YouTube so you can learn which stems and suckers to prune.
They’re either bush type/determinate (don’t prune) or really tall growing/indeterminate (pinch out laterals). Find out which one for your answer.
No. Do not prune them unless you want fewer tomatoes. Also your plant is way too tiny to consider this anyway.
If your tomato starts bushing out too much (one of mine is going two feet horizontally), and you’re worried about getting sufficient airflow to keep diseases out due to humidity, then yeah go prune to open it up.
Some people prefer to plant a lot of tomatoes close together and then intentionally prune to a single or double leader so they are all going upward in a tighter space, but it does not seem like that’s your scenario based on the photo.
Whatever height they grow, they’ll need staking or some form of support.
