My moms not mine so don’t cook me, but how do I save it? It was my grandmas before my moms and it’s like 70 years old so I wanna save it so I can have it one day. Unless it’s too late
okok not an expert but it NEEDS a bigger pot, something the size of the biggest one in the picture, or larger. is this a corn plant? it might need a change of soil, something that drains well and has more nutrients that what the old soil had.

This is a soil issue. You probably have root rot too. Don’t go up in size until you inspect the roots. If half the root ball is rotted, cut it off soak in hydrogen peroxide, repot in a pot no larger than 2 inches from the rootball, repot in a chunky soil.
Remove *all soil* you can do this by a hose and spraying the rootball or soaking the rootball in a bucket or bowl of water.
Once all the soil is removed, inspect the roots. If you see mushy roots, cut them off using sterile scissors. Soak the rootball for about 15-20 minutes in water and hydrogen peroxide, 2:1 ratio.
Potting mix:
Using a utility bucket and a garden scooper or an ice scoop…
– 1/2 scoop of cactus soil
– 1/2 scoop worm castings (optional, but good for nutrients)
– 1/2 scoop of compost (optional, but good for nutrients)
– 2 scoops perlite
– 2 scoops horticultural charcoal
– 2 scoops orchid bark
Mix it all up, and you want to get the impression of, “that’s chunky” If you don’t get that impression, add another scoop of charcoal and perlite.

Pull it out carefully. Shake off all the old dirt. Toss in garden. Add a fresh bag in a new bigger pot. Should be fine. Don’t let the cat pee in it or eat by the looks of it.
