Don’t have a pool and don’t want a pool, but I saw this on instagram. Is this an acceptable way to fill in a pool? (Ignore the guys’ subtitles)

Totally unacceptable. What kind of question is that? Dirt. Dirt go in ground. Dirt good.

If you don’t crack the pool it will become a sloppy wet mess. Maybe?

My FIL when he was a teen his aunt offered him a summer job, and he could stay with her for it. He was excited to stay there because they had a pool and he wanted to swim in it every day. Yeah… the summer job was filling in the pool.

My house had a pool that had been filled in with the cement around the pool all left in place. The bottom had been busted open for drainage somehow as it has never been soft in the 13 years Ive been here. This past fall I finally busted the last of the flatwork cement, most 5-6 inches thick. Ive taken the side-walls down two block heights and may do a 3rd in the future. All in all it was a headache to remove but there were no real issues other than the hideousness of it all.

So, there is still the bottom of the pool down there but the top has been dug out and removed.

I love this actually. A pool would be a big drawback for any home, and the little path/tile curb is cute

As someone without a pool i dont understand why you’d pay to fill in a pool when they cost so much now adays to even get installed. Like many tens of thousands of dollars and your just filling it with shitty fill dirt lol.

Sure it might not work or has issues, but fix those and keep the property value+.

Or just dont buy a house with a pool if you dont want one.

when looking to buy a house here in Texas, we saw many pools filled in with dirt. the ground here is very hard, very difficult to dig through, which is why there’s so few in-ground pools here. But the people who want one will pay the money for one.

…. however, if there’s ever an issue with the liner or the pool itself, esp from shifting ground causing a crack in the pool, it literally costs just as much as a new install to repair it, or so I’m told. So, many people just fill it in with dirt, instead. Never seen a tree in one, tho!
