Sorry if this is a dumb question I’m a novice and struggling with the other areas of my house to get the lighting right. I wondered if it would be okay to move most of my plants to this rooms shelf.
Small window next to the cat tree face south, the windows directly across from the shelf face west and then there are skylight windows on top.

not sure, but congrats on an epic house
I would say it’s a bit too far from the windows but you can try and see what plants like it there. Beautiful house btw.
You have soooo much natural light, that’s a beautiful room. I absolutely looove velux type windows. I stayed in a barn conversion once and I woudk just turn the lights off and look up at the stars.
Wow beautiful home op
If it doesn’t get too much light, you could easily hang up some grow lights. Lovely house btw! We also have an open floor as a hang out space on a higher floor of the house with an open attic.
I thought you meant you wanted to put them on those support beams which would be cool just gotta make sure theyre secure. But also theyre too far from the window imo
If you find they need more light, could you relocate them to the space at the top of the stairs where the pet food bowls are? Swap places and put the bowls where the shelf is?
I think the Monstera definitely needs more light than it may get in the current space.
Agree with everyone that has commented, beautiful house OP.
Probably the worst place in the room for plants. Deep in the room and covered by the stairs
in my experience, plants prefer to have an unobstructed view of the sky through the window. Mine will contort themselves in new and unsettling ways to get around my blinds if I don’t open them wide enough often enough lol. I think having the stairs right over them will block more light from that upper window than you’d expect. I agree with others saying to swap the pet bowls with the plants, I think you’ll have a lot more success there
I would move it closer to the window
Which windows have southern exposure (or northern if you are upside-down)? A spot near them would be ideal; a little direct sun but indirect the rest of the time. Personally, I would fill the whole space with plants! 😍
Should be fine especially since there’s windows all around as well as skylights and your plants appear to all be tropical that prefer defused light. If some happen to require more light and u want to keep them there just grab a few of those grow lights that clip right into the pot. Lovely space btw
It appears that you have cats, they will probably attempt to jump from the stairs down onto the plant rack using it as a fire escape.
Edit: my cats would.
You could put some grow lights hidden under the stairs for them if you really like that location. Just to supplement. I’ve used cheap ones in the past and I’d say Sansi is worth the investment.
I want your house
I love your house! I would be trying to put plants along those beams for the skylights but it would be a pain to water them
Edit I just saw you have at least 1 cat… mine would 100% walk on those beams and knock the plants down lol so maybe don’t even try
Omg dream home jelous now fill it with tausend plants 😈
I think plants would do great, all that indirect light they’d get. Plus would look fabulous!!!
I hate it not having money.
When u move them u’ll need to check em to see how quick they’ll dry out as best rises. Then u will put a schedule together on watering them. Write it down if u have alot of plants. There like people all different needs.
Am I the only one seeing hooks placed into the wood frames and plants hanging from the ceiling?! What an awesome house !!
Get an app like Photone (has a free version) and get an actual measurement of the light reaching each level of the shelf. Compare it to other areas in your *nauseatingly* gorgeous living room.
ChatGPT is probably a very good resource for checking whether the light readings you get are sufficient for each type of plant you have there, though I haven’t tried that personally.
