The always popular Fortuna Garden Club Christmas Home Tour and Tea is planned for Wednesday, Dec. 10. This is the 53rd annual Home Tour and Tea and the theme this year is “Here Comes Santa Claus.”

The four homes of the tour this year, all in Fortuna, are the Quen home, 104 Boyden Lane; the Conley home, 107 Boyden Lane; the Klinetobe home, 108 Dunaway Court; and the Kiani home, 820 9th Street.

Tickets for the tour are $20 per person and can be obtained in advance at Green’s Pharmacy and on Dec. 10 at the Fortuna Monday Club and at any of this year’s featured homes. The homes on the tour are open from noon until 7 p.m.

The tea is held at the Monday Club, and an opportunity drawing takes place at that location from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Monday Club will be decorated and filled with holiday spirit.

According to Fortuna Garden Club President Janet Green, the Christmas Home Tour and Tea is the group’s biggest fundraiser.

At the Quen home, the fireplace is the main star, covered in stockings, garland, and cute decorations. Both sides of the fireplace are packed with gnomes, trees, signs, and little holiday pieces that make the whole space feel fun and festive.

At the Conley home, a lifetime of collecting Christmas treasures and memories are on display. Each room in this home has its own theme and includes the family room tree, which is adorned with photos of the couple’s children and grandchildren through the years.

At the Klinetobe home, holiday military decorations honor all who have served and are serving. This home also includes a decorated kitchen inspired by a lifelong love of Halloween.

The Kiani home is known as the Mudgett House, built in the mid-1880s. The property was purchased by George Francis Gushaw in 1870. One of his daughters, Eda married Decatur Mudgett, and the couple bought the house from Eda’s mother, Gushaw’s widow in 1894. Visitors are invited to step back in time to the 1880s and explore the grand parlor, dining room, upstairs bedrooms, and a Victorian-style greenhouse in a tree-filled lot.
