Hey friends! Brace yourselves — this week’s free yard transformation got completely out of hand in the best way possible!

So I was driving around my community this week and spotted a property that immediately caught my eye. Even at a distance, you could see tall, dry grass consuming the yard. This was a big fire risk. When I got closer, it was clear this place needed a lot of love. The front fence was being swallowed up, and the garden beds were completely buried under kikuyu grass.

I went up to the door and was greeted by Mel. She shared that she’s a single mum of two, working long hours and barely able to keep up with the garden. She also mentioned she’d received a council violation notice six weeks earlier because of the fire danger. I told her I’d take care of everything and get her yard looking alive again and she was over the moon at the offer.

If you’ve been enjoying these free transformations, the best way to support me is by hitting subscribe. It doesn’t cost a thing and helps me keep creating even more amazing makeovers for you all.

Thanks so much for tuning in. Don’t miss the before and afters at the end, this transformation will blow your mind!

There is a big bull ant nest right here.
Luckily, I saw them before they saw me. Hello. How are you? Good. How are you? Yeah, good,
thanks. Look, I was just driving past. The lawn.   I noticed the lawn wondering if you needed any
help with it by any chance. Thank you so much. Housing have um put a request in 6 weeks ago
cuz I’m not maintaining it. Long story short,   yes, I need help. Okay. Well, I go around
once a week and I help someone for free. So, it wouldn’t cost you a thing. [ __ ]
No, I couldn’t let you do that. No, no,   no. Seriously. Honestly, you’re not going to give
me any money. It’s not going to cost you anything. I have a YouTube channel. I go around I basically
Oh my god it’s this guy! What was your name? So, I’m Aiden. Mel. Mel. Nice to meet you. Give you Oh my god. Thank
you. You’re fine. I do have another green bin. That’s cool. I got a trailer. I got a massive
trailer. I’ll take everything. That is fine.   Hello everybody and welcome back to this week’s
free yard transformation video. And if you’re new to the channel, I’m so glad that you found your
way here. You’re going to have a great time. Now,   I was driving around my community this week and I
had spotted this corner property. The first thing that stood out to me was this extremely tall and
dry grass which was just taking over this yard. This stuff is a massive fire risk, especially
here in Australia as we are going into summer soon as well. So things could get really bad
really quickly with this stuff. And if you’re   one of my subscribers, you probably have seen this
stuff multiple times. I come across this type of grass in a lot of my videos. The front fence was
being taken over and all of the garden beds around the side of this property look like they needed a
massive cleanout as there was lots of tall grass and weeds growing throughout all of the plants
here. There was also a tree out the front here   that had some branches that were growing onto
the road. If you didn’t see these at nighttime, you would definitely hit them. They were sticking
out at least over a meter onto the road. But then,   as I opened the front gate to this place
and walked in, I soon realized how much work actually needed to be done at this property.
This place looked like it had not been touched for   a few years. All of the garden beds around the
whole yard were completely consumed by Kikuyu grass. This stuff is an absolute nightmare.
Again, if you’re subscribed, you would see   this stuff in a lot of my videos. This stuff
is like rope. If you just whippers snip it all, it will come back really quickly. So, you need
to try and hand pull as much of this as you can.   I didn’t actually even realize that there were
some garden beds here until I found some plastic edging hidden under a lot of grass. There was a
whole pile of rubbish near the letter box that   needed to be cleaned up. And this tall grass and
kikuyu grass were just taking over all of the plants in these garden beds. There was also a massive
tree in the middle of this yard that was blocking   one of the entrances to get to the lawn. So that
needed a massive pruning back too. So I went and I knocked on the front door to see if anyone was
home and indeed the homeowner was home. Her name is Mel and she was telling me that she is a single
mom and that she has been working extremely long hours. She said she hasn’t been able to get around
to doing the yard but now it’s actually gotten a   bit out of control. She also said that the council
had issued her a notice for this yard because it is such a fire hazard. But I told her I would get
this whole place completely cleaned up for her and   she was extremely appreciative and sounded very
grateful. She even gave me a massive hug which was really nice. She’d also gone and bought me
drinks and kept me hydrated the whole time I was   here. But I can’t wait to show you all what I have
done with this place. It is completely different now. So stick around to the end to see all the
before and afters for this one. And unfortunately   my power sweeper is in for repairs this week.
So, there is no power sweeper in today’s video, but you’ll be seeing it in next week’s video.
And if you enjoy these types of videos that I   make and the work that I do, the best way that
you can support me and this channel is to just like the video and subscribe to the page. It’s
completely free to subscribe and it just keeps you updated with all of my latest videos. Now, enough
of me yapping on. Let’s get to this cleanup. So, sit back, relax, grab a coffee, grab a
tea, grab a water, and enjoy today’s video. All right, everyone. Meet my new best
friend. The day has finally come that   I have a trailer now. Thanks to everyone
who donated and helped me get this thing. I appreciate it so much. This is going
to cut down my dump runs by at least 2/3.   Let me just give you a little tour of
this bad boy. All right, so for starters, this back door here comes open. Exact same with
the other side there. That also comes open. This one comes off to become this part
of the ramp. And the other one the exact   same with the other side of the ramp. I can
choose to just use one or two. I’m about to go drive to the property now. Can’t wait
to use this thing. I will see you there. Look what I have just run into. Luckily,   I saw them before they saw me. But there
is a big bull ant nest right here. So, let me show you what these things look like.
They absolutely sting if they bite you. So I think this is their larvae. These
white little egg looking things which I   have unfortunately uncovered, but they
are all going to try and hide them. I’m going to uh hand weed the last little
bit of this before they bite me. So,   if anyone’s wondering why I’m hand weeding
all of this instead of whippers snipping it, it’s because there’s not supposed to be any grass
growing in these areas. And if I hand weed it, I can get all the roots and it stops
it from growing back so fast. If you   just whipper snip it, it comes
back pretty much the next week. These are all dead flowers that I’m chopping
off right now. They pretty much stay there until   someone will actually pick them out because these
things are pretty hardy even when they’re dead. So, this is what they look like when
they are about to flower. Unfortunately,   we’re giving everything a trim back,
so we can’t be having these right now. This thing is sticking onto the road
and even when I tried to park here,   it just kept scraping my windscreen.
So, this has all got to go. This is actually the next
door neighbor’s place. Um,   there’s a fence that splits these two
properties. It’s just over there. But I wanted to get this guy because he was making
his way onto the path and taking over that fence. Now, I hope you guys didn’t think I was
going to stop doing my ute dance. Uh,   at least now I’ve got something
to hold on to when I’m doing it. So, the reason that I’m just stopping
the edging here is because her property   actually ends around here. There’s a
fence that divides these two houses. So, I’m just doing hers and I just
want hers to stand out the most. So, some of you might be wondering why I’m
not just whippers snippering this whole area   and I’m hand weeding it. So, this garden bed here
actually goes around the whole garden and this is not supposed to have any grass in it whatsoever.
And there’s this Kikuyu grass growing through it, which is a nightmare and grows like
crazy. And this stuff is like rope.   So, what I want to do is try and get as much
of this stuff out by the roots that I can, and then it will prevent it
from growing back as fast. anyone else had to deal with pulling
out this much kakuya by hand before?   This stuff is such a nightmare and it’s
hard to get out of the ground, but you have to pull this stuff out or it will just go
absolutely crazy and take over everything. So,   if you’ve touched this stuff before, drop it
in the comments. I want to hear your stories. So, this is called a common
lantina. There’s obviously   some beautiful white and yellow
flowers on this thing right now, but I’m trying to get underneath all
this to get all the grass out as well. So these weeds are a pest.
When these get to this size,   they end up having some prickles all
over them. There is no way that you can handle these without gloves. I’ll
show you how many prickles there are.

  5. Yeah HAND WEEDING is the best to control the re growth of weeds less faster.
We do that too here in my area. Pull up the weeds and not just cut them coz in a week it's just tall grass again😢

  6. Wonderful work Aidan! The amount of work you did pulling weeds by hand was amazing ! And that too for free. Really admirable!❤

  7. This is an extraordinary result. Your work is meticulous and the yard is now a showplace.

  8. Your channel was mentioned in the Comments section of the Midlife Stockman channel. I came over to check you out and I enjoyed your content so I am a new subscriber. 👍😊

  9. I have a 'love/hate' relationship with kikuyu grass 😂 I love the fresh smell after it's been mowed but it is so invasive, blocks drains and always seems to flourish where you definitely don't want it!

  10. Yep mulberry and OMG I fight the upstarts. When I saw the house I thought of you and how cute it was. We have snow in the KC area and very cold.

  11. Would the grass that you are cutting be called crabgrass in California? If so, then yes, I've had my share of removing it from my garden, and yes, it is a nightmare. You've worked so very hard on that garden; your work is priceless, and she was so very lucky to have you transform her yard. Your job is beautifully done!

  12. Jeg er enig med Robin fra Canada 🥰 Hvordan kan du IKKE blive imponeret over denne unge gartner, der bruger 1 dag om ugen, til at hjælpe andre medmennesker ? WOWW

  13. Another excellent job, love that you’re willing to hand weed, it makes such a difference. What a wonderful gift for the lady who lives here . . .

  14. Wow wow wow, the lady must feel as if she's won the lottery, Aidan you've gone above and beyond yourself, a true Titan🎉

  15. Wow. This looks like a definite challenge. I'll be paying close attention! I have to say, that "rope-type" grass looks like a headache to contain.

  16. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ❤️ WATCHING YOU WORK!! YOU ARE FANTASTIC AT WHAT YOU DO!! THANK YOU 🙏 FOR WHAT YOU DO FOR THE CITIZENS. GOD BLESS YOU. 👍❤️🙏😃

  17. I SAW ANOTHER GARDEN CARE GIVER THAT HAD GOTTEN THIS SQUARE PLASTIC TUB ABOUT WAIST HIGH WITH HANDLES. TO PUT ALL OF HIS GRASS CLIPPINGS IN AND OTHER CLIPPINGS IN TO CARRY THEM TO HIS TRAILER TO EMPTY. HE SAID IT WAS THE BEST THING HE HAD EVER BOUGHT HE SAID IT HAS HELPED HIM IN SO MANY WAYS. MIGHT WANT TO LOOK 👀 INTO THIS SQUARE TUB. LOVE ❤️ YOUR WORK 🙏❤️👍🙏

  18. THE MAN SAID HE DIDNT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BAGS ANYMORE AND IT WAS EASY TO LAY THE SQUARE TUB ON ITS SIDE AND SWEEP OR RAKE THINGS INTO IT 👍❤️

  19. Kikuyu… a total nightmare. I have to admit I’ve resorted to clipping it back and CAREFULLY spraying it with roundup.. avoiding the plants around it.. then mulching heavily

  20. Also. Have you come across the mini chainsaws out there? Carried on the belt and used whenever secateurs are useful. Sean from Midlife Stockman calls it his favourite tool…tho he has a few. His is a Stihl but Makita etc do them too

  21. Wonderful work. She must be so grateful and happy. Have to admit I would worry about those hard edges sticking up if they are metal. They look pretty sharp
