I thought this week I would talk about some of the oldest foods that have ever been discovered that were still edible. That doesn’t sound very tasty, I’ll be honest. No, but I think it teaches us something quite interesting about what conditions and what sorts of foods can basically last forever. One that immediately springs to mind is honey. You are so right, Jamie. That is in fact the oldest ever discovered edible food. doesn’t surprise me. The very oldest ever honey discovered is actually thousands of years older than that and was discovered in Georgia again in like a burial tomb and supposedly was still recognizable as honey. Someone tried it braver than me. Yeah, I know why.

My guesses were honey, salt (if you can count that) and maybe garum?
