Crane Garden Buildings is a family-run business and a market leader in high-quality timber garden buildings.

The company was launched in a DIY shop in Narford, near Swaffham, in 1974.

David Crane hand-crafted its first shed out the back of the family’s shop. After it quickly sold, David went on to make more and soon began taking orders for bespoke sheds.

The business takes pride in offering a personalised service that prioritises the customer from the initial design phase all the way through to the final installation – which has earned it an ‘excellent’ rating on Trustpilot.

Fifty years on from its launch, Crane Garden Buildings now has more than 100 employees, 13 show centres across the country and 22 core buildings, plus ranges with the National Trust and John Lewis.

It has built a reputation for excellence that continues to grow – and the quality of its materials, craftsmanship and service are still held in the highest esteem.

In response to increasing customer requests, this year Crane Garden Buildings introduced a paid repair and maintenance service for buildings outside of warranty, providing customers with continued reassurance.

The judges said the business “goes above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction”, noting the “impressive number of quality assurance processes embedded into the client experience”.

They also praised its “clear career pathways” for staff, and said that it embeds its “values at the core of decision-making processes”.

Crane Garden Buildings’ CEO Russell Atkinson called the win “a team effort”.

“Every part of the business is committed to quality,” he added.

“Customer service is all about providing the best quality – the product, the build, the fitting and everybody who supports the business.”

Customer service manager Deborah Nicholls added: “The whole company works extremely hard on our customer experience, and so this award is for the whole company.”
