The Coastal Garden Club met last month to dedicate a Redbud tree planted in Mulberry Park to one of their members, Henry Rehder (1950-2025).
Per the words of his friend and fellow member, Rowena Sewell: “We have planted and are dedicating this tree today not as a final farewell, but as a living memorial to our fellow garden club member, Henry Rehder. Trees symbolize life, renewal, and resilience, and just as this tree will weather storms and reach for the sky, so too with the memories of Henry continue to provide inspiration. In planting this tree, we are committing to tend to this tree so that its roots grow deep and its branches spread wide as a constant reminder of his dedication to our club, to horticulture, and to Mother Earth.”
Rehder left a legacy of kindness, passion, faith and generosity — a life well lived and a spirit that will be deeply missed, the club said, leading it to plant a tree in his honor.
