I want to remove this big ol shrub and add a dogwood tree but would I be better off putting it another spot due to the hydrant? Last owners didn’t do much maintenance and just let it grow out of control. Also don’t know why the picture looks like a potato I’m guessing cuz I’m not on WiFi?

As a firefighter, I would not like to set that hydrant up. You should be behind the hydrant when putting it together. There doesn’t look like much room behind that, especially if in a place that gets snow. I’m surprised they don’t trim that up🤷🏻♂️
It’s a completely bad idea and the city might remove it.
I would trim it back . It looks very nice yo me .
