Hoya Serpens is one of my absolute favorite plants of all time and I’ve always struggled with it! It would put out new leaves and then the stem would stop growing and yellow and die off. I tried to up the watering but eventually decided to transfer it to a self watering pot. The mix I used has mainly coco chips which it was growing in originally so I didn’t have to bother the roots too much. Let me tell you that was the best decision I’ve made! It has put out so many new growth points and cute baby leaves! It also has 2 peduncles that look very happy as well! I couldn’t be happier! So if you’re struggling with Hoya Serpens I HIGHLY recommend a self watering pot! 🫶🏼

My serpens has some rope in the potting mix to pull up/wick away water and looks like this and also has a couple peduncles. Highly recommend self watering for these guys!!
I have a Serpens it’s in pons. Yes it’s true it will put out new growth then yellow and wither off time and time again 😔 it’s so finicky that I fear even breathing on it stresses it out LOL I have moved it to a warmer area of my home instead of my usual hoya spot with my whole collection… where did you get your SW pot btw? 😳
Awesome! I also love serpens and been thinking of repotting her in a similar self-watering pot. I think I’ll go ahead with that plan ☺️ thank you for this encouraging post!!
Pretty much all my Hoyas are in self-watering pots, and better for it. Steady moisture is what it’s all about…
