First time grower here. Those who have grown Copper Boy dahlias, do the tubers take longer than normal to sprout? I am in the Southern Hemipshere, so we are in summer now.
I am pre-sprouting my tubers, and thanks goodness for that due to a LOT of rain in my area over the last few weeks. I take the pots out into the sun when it is out, and they are under cover if it rains.
It is only one tuber, which I put in the pot on the 13th of October (along with a few other varieties I purchased). The others have all since started growing shoots. Copper Boy, however, has some roots coming out of the tuber and nothing else. The tuber is not mushy or mouldy or anything like that. I didn’t add any water to the soil other than the day I put the tubers into the pots.
Have I done something wrong? Is it the variety? Is it the tuber?

This is an automatic reminder regarding r/dahlias Rule 3:
When reasonable*, posters should make a good-faith effort to identify which variety/varieties are shown in their photo(s). If you don’t know for certain, please say so. Someone will usually know!
*Common-sense exceptions to this rule will be honored, such as if the photo does not contain a blossom, or if your photo contains large volumes (such as in wide field shots).
If you’ve already done this, thank you! No further action required.
If not, please add a reply to this comment and confirm if you know the name of your dahlia variety/varieties shown in the photo(s). Alternately, if you’re uncertain of the variety name(s), it’s ok to say that, too.
