This is how you planting citrus and pots. Choose the pot, the size you need it. Bigger the pot, bigger the tree you have. Smaller the pot, smaller tree you have it. First, we need add lava for good drainage. One to two inches before the soy. Next, cactus soyo mix. My secret ingredient is sand. Mix two parts so one part sand. Mixing the soy with the sand. 100% mix. So mix it really good. This is how your soil look after you mix. Nice and sandy before the tree. One or two handfuls as starter fertilizer and mix it with the soil. Make sure your soil line is level. Now we’re going to put the tree in. This is semi-dwarf meer lemon. Good for containers. We’re going to fill the pot with the sandy soy. Pack the soil really good down that way they don’t get air pockets around the roots. Add another handful of starter fertilizer and top. After planting, use citrus fertilizer every six to eight weeks and water it twice a week. Your first planting you water two three times. This water going through and water it again. Now put your citrus in a sunny area and that way you have a fruits for decades.

Those roots are going to rot within a year with all that organic matter around them. You can dress your soil with whatever you want on top but the soil itself should only be mineral based.
