GARDEN CITY, Kan. (KWCH) – A Garden City woman was arrested early Saturday morning for driving into a church while drunk.
Garden City police shared that around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, police were called to the 300 block of east Campbell Street for a crash. When they arrived, they found a car had ran into the wall of Garden Valley Church.
After investigation, police report that 45-year-old Chelby Wilson was driving north on 3rd Street when she nearly hit a parked car. While trying to avoid the crash, she overcorrected, jumped the curb, hit a sign and hit a fire hydrant before hitting the church.
Wilson was later determined to be driving under the influence and was booked into the county jail.
