Perhaps I’m only paying attention to this page because they make you select that you’ve read the notes prior to buying but is this an industry standard? I can see where they would be coming from, as some people can be terribly entitled and this is a person’s livelihood, but this whole page has me feeling…less enthusiastic about ordering from them for the first time.

This is an automatic reminder regarding r/dahlias Rule 3:

When reasonable*, posters should make a good-faith effort to identify which variety/varieties are shown in their photo(s). If you don’t know for certain, please say so. Someone will usually know!

*Common-sense exceptions to this rule will be honored, such as if the photo does not contain a blossom, or if your photo contains large volumes (such as in wide field shots).

If you’ve already done this, thank you! No further action required.

If not, please add a reply to this comment and confirm if you know the name of your dahlia variety/varieties shown in the photo(s). Alternately, if you’re uncertain of the variety name(s), it’s ok to say that, too.

You’re in trouble now, you posted to social media. Straight to jail. Right away. No trial, no nothing.

I wouldn’t buy from them either. Especially after that last paragraph…wtf. They’re selling dahlia tubers, not kidneys 🙄.

I’ve been happy with Triple Wren and Swan Island, personally.

Edit- I just went to their page to see all the T&C and OMG. I have NEVER, in my life, bought an item from a business that has a “Customer Conduct Policy”. Ridiculous.

A lot of online sites have the now. Which makes sense, because people are so quick to blast a small issue on social media….growers are like I’m not selling to those who won’t let us fix it (I assume this farm has been in the situation) Me…I’m willing to try, but if the tubers are not good, I’m not going back to any farm to request a refund or anything….I’m just not shopping at said farm anymore.

Honestly what is sad if that I’ve have most success from freebie tubers! Nice people who have sent me free tubers are the ones that grew best for me.

As someone who has a micro dahlia farm… basically reminding people that there are consequences if they decide to be wretched? Tragically necessary. I don’t agree with the social media paragraph, although if I see people being really horrific on SM, I take note.

No joke, I’ve heard of multiple “blacklists” being shared around privately the last few years to those in the know. Lists consist not for flaky or scamming people, or even super entitled people, but of people who discuss any negative issues with any dahlia farm (even warranted, polite discussion).

It’s crazy, but it’s absolutely happening and not just this farm. There is a clique thing stemming from some of the dahlia and cut flower groups as well, it’s juvenile.
