Hi guys!
I joined this group after I woke up to yet another sight of my devilish cat (I love hime and heās really sweet and cute and an angel 99% of the time) having bitten off the leaves of my Bird of Paradise :((
The last time he did that, I cut a few of the stems, but it doesnāt seem like it helps (2nd picture).
Can someone please help me with what I should do? How can I save my plant?
Ty!!

Please monitor your cat because those plants are mildly toxic to cats
Itāll grow back. Make sure itās not toxic to kitty and watch for symptoms like severe vomiting or no appetite.
But thereās still healthy leaves it looks like itāll grow back eventually. You can cut off and compost the damaged ones.
Iād recommend putting the pot up on a sturdy stand and hopefully cat will leave it alone in the future.
My last cat never bothered any of my plants except palms. Current cat, is like a crack addict for leaves.
So Iāve learned how to macrame my own plant hangers with string for small pots, and generally stick to keeping plants on surfaces he canāt reach otherwise they get murdered.
I had a cat with the same habit. It used to chew off the leaves.
So I planted wheatgrass. Cats like to chew on it and it left my plants alone. You can try the same.
Currently training 14 week old kittens to leave my plants alone: Bitter Yuck is your friend. We’re starting out with some of the non-toxic plants. The rest are locked safely in my office. Pro-tip, wash your hands with dish soap after spraying the bitter yuck unless you want to know how it tastes.
Donāt bother asking the cat heāll just blame the victim.
Been there, done that! I still have to make sure plants I have aren’t toxic to cats. Good thing they grow back! I grew catnip and it would go that plant after that. She was chill and playful.
I think we may need to see the offender to make sure!
