Tried rescuing this monstera which needed chopping and had pests. The growth point turned yellow and brown, but a new leaf is still coming through! The outer part of the growing leaf has turned brown, should i wet it, peel the brown bits off, or will it manage to break through on its own?
Sorry if this is in the wrong subreddit, but considering this is a post pest issue i thought it appropriate to post here.
For obligatory reasons:
It grows in water, i should definitely have moved it out into soil ages ago
The plant is in a big east facing window, in southwest Norway

Just leave it alone (:
Hi there. I live in the middle of Norway and have been there
(In southern Norway as well, but i meant in this situation). 🙂
Keeping them in water longer than needed, makes you have to replace the water to keep it clean to avoid rotting, longer than needed. I would plant this now.
The transition from water to soil, can be tough, but i’ve had great success with good soil, orchid bark, perlite, leca and perlite. About one part of each, or for a Monstera, maybe add some extra soil. This is a very airy mix to give the young roots some air. The sun has left us, so they aren’t as thirsty anymore. This is also the season where people that water on a schedule, risk new root rot, because of this.
I any ways, i wish you good luck, down south. 😀
