This is my first time trying to grow a chilli. I’m doing it in a pot as I don’t have garden space where I live. I water it daily, use liquid fertiliser weekly, and it gets full sun all day. I purchased this as a seedling nearly 3 weeks ago and planted it straight into this 21L pot. It began to flower when I brought it home so I topped it to stop the flowering, but it’s pushing flowers out on the side now. Why is this happening and how do I stop it/prevent it from happening?

I don’t see any flowers – I do see some green leaf buds trying to form.

Just keep pinching off flowers until the plant gets to the size you want. With a 21l pot it can grow quite big. It is actually extremely normal to have chillies try to flower early, so i wouldn’t worry about it.

Usually the flowering is caused by roots filling up the available space(in a small pot for example) which signals the plant that it has done what it could (size wise) and now it is time to procreate. Or it can be caused by stress (temp/environment change) which again signals the plant that it needs to create fruits and therefore seeds asap.

Your plant looks very healthy and happy though so I think you are doing everything right! Good luck!

Oh wow, I didn’t know you could top it at that size! Do they get bushy like basil?

Also, what kind of liquid fertilizer? I suppose if it has high P that could induce flowering. Maybe it’s just ready, are you worried that it won’t grow as much foliage if it’s focused on flowering? You could probably just cut the flowers until you think it’s ready
