Hi, guys. Welcome to Interior Insights. I’m Jane and we are standing
in Copenhagen and Denmark. And today
we’re going to look at an incredible, classic masterpiece of a house. The house itself has 260m². If you like a mix of classic
and contemporary design filled with incredible art. This video is for you. Now let’s go and take a look. if you want to help me and continue
to see more and more incredible designs that we show you every week, subscribe
to this channel and like this video, because that’s the easiest
and best way that you can support us. And if you want more interior
design content and behind the scenes update, follow us on Instagram
and subscribe to our newsletter, where we post behind the scenes content
and stories you won’t find anywhere else. Now we are already in the entry area and behind me
you can see this gorgeous large black and white photograph paired
with the strong pink marble for the floor. And it is just a small hint
of how magnificent this house is going to be. The house itself has around 260m², which spanned over three floors, and the house was bought
by a family and artist around three years ago,
and then renovated for one year. Everything that was left was just
this gorgeous historical structure, but they completely did a gut renovation and turned it into the masterpiece
that we have today. The entire ground floor has been turned into an open
living situation, and we are already standing in the kitchen
and the kitchen consists of one gorgeous large
kitchen counter that is quite high, which is perfect
if you want to drink a glass of wine with your friends or entertain. But at the same time, of course the kitchen is the heart of the home
and you can just really see this. the kitchen counter is made of a large slab of travertine, and you will actually see travertine
repeated again and again throughout the design. So you just have this very coherent
use of different materials. And what’s very particular
is that we just have the kitchen island standing in the main room. And then actually through this half open
entryway, we have the second part of the kitchen,
and it acts kind of like a pantry room, But at the same time, it’s
still a very open situation and you have everything you need. The countertops are again
in this gorgeous travertine. there’s these vintage looking brass
waterfall sets that just give it this historic
and very classical flair. and through the windows,
you can look out into the beautiful green garden and let the outside flooded. you can see that whenever you have a very clean and thoughtful design,
like in this house, it just gives you much more room to play
and show your own style. Because on a very sleek kitchen like this,
a coffee machine, a stainless steel coffee machine, and unique coffee cups
really pop off of the minimal background. What I love about the living room
is that you just really have this clash
of the two different worlds, that status of the historic structure
that we can see in every window, or the gorgeous
large door frame that opens up. And in the summer,
this door is always open. So you even almost have this indoor
outdoor living situation. And I absolutely love it. for the dining room area. We have a very large slab of travertine and it is really heavy,
so it actually weighs over 150 kilos. And you can just really see
that there is a strong sense of symmetry within the design, because to both sides
we have long slabs of travertine. This just gives this historic building,
even though it has a contemporary design,
a very nice symmetry to it. Okay. Hold up. Let’s do a quick color analysis of this
incredible living and dining room area. so this living and dining room
is a master class in understated harmony. What I mean by this is that the color palette sits
in this very warm and neutral spectrum, and I’m talking about soft
bass, muted creams and warm brown woods. But they are really balanced properly by these gorgeous natural greens
that come in from the garden view and are also expressed in 1 or 2 plants
that are sitting in the living room. And that is absolutely beautiful. And so the secret to what makes this room
look so beautiful, balanced and harmonious
is that we have a temperature balance. So everything inside carries
a subtle warmth that flows seamlessly into the greenery outside,
and if you want to learn how to create a gorgeous and cohesive color
palette for your own home, this is exactly what we will be covering in the interior
designer color course. How to use color like a real designer. Not just by guessing,
but by really understanding the framework. There are five modules and 26 video
lessons. A fully printable workbook
And to top it off, at the end, you’ll even get a 30 minute
private consultation with me to answer any remaining questions that you have about color, color palettes
or creating a balance. So to find out more go and scan this QR
code or click the link in the description. The dining room is surrounded
by wooden Scandinavian chairs that are very stylish,
but at the same time, all of these natural materials make the house very lived in and everything feels very warm. I also love that on every single kitchen counter or table,
You have all of these large kitchen appliances standing around,
even if it’s just a big pile of olive oil. It still acts as decor
and just tells this very cohesive story. On top of the table there is a lamp made from long pieces of brass
with open light bulbs. And there’s also a very modern design and a really focal point
as soon as you come into the house. And of course, the absolute,
gem of the living room is this large artwork. Now, this artwork over here actually has been created by the owner
Beyond. Add well. who lives here himself, and he’s an artist
who is a pioneer in working with brass and he creates
these incredible artworks on brass. And he works with a lot of metal. And because there is enough space, there even was a second garden house
created it over here. And it is just
one dream of a winter garden. So whenever it’s a more moody or colder day,
the family likes to eat here And because it is a space
that is actually separated from the original house, it almost is
like its own little holiday home. And I really like it. And I love the gorgeous sunny chairs. They are my absolute
all time favorite design. and the garden house is from wood, but it has also been painted in this olive
green color. So you just have this incredible dreamy
atmosphere with vines and grapes growing all over it. It’s absolutely magical. And I absolutely love this gorgeous, bold peacock fabric
that has been used for the seating area, and you can just sit here
and look outside into your gorgeous garden with more seating areas outside, and
and you can just really imagine an incredible life
both inside and outside of the house. Over here we have the sofa area
as well as another seating area. And because there are so much space,
the empty space has been use. And over here we have two incredible
Barcelona chairs have been designed by Mr. Nagoya. I’m sure all of you know him. and the cognac leather chairs
are accompanied by a mirrored sofa table. And around it, you have of these gorgeous
sculptures and artworks that have been created
from a friend of the artist. And I absolutely love that
in whatever direction you look in this house,
you can just discover a new sculpture. And I really love the unconventional
approach of materials that has been used, that we just have this array of real
and raw and just very heavy materials. Over here. We have yet again, another seating area. It is much more formal
than the big dining room area there’s a round marble table, and around it
we have very classic upholstered chairs that just perfectly fit
inside the small niche. And the Nishad self
almost seems like a wonder garden because every single side there’s windows And you can see that even here in the candle holders,
the material process has been used again. So you just have this very cohesive and coherent use of different materials
throughout the space. Now let me show you the actual sofa area. It is actually inside here and it is its own space. But the doors can just be folded open
so that the space naturally extends to the rest of the living room. you know, I love open floor concept, but I also really like
the fact that this is kind of like a small, more private and informal
living room because it’s much tighter. It’s cozy. It’s filled with a lot of different
personal details. There is different photographs and objects that have been collected
throughout the years. And so it just feels much more personal. And of course, we still have all of these incredible pieces of art
all over the place. and like I hinted before, the silver table is also made of very raw and natural looking travertine. So you just have this variation
of this incredible material used throughout the house during the renovation process,
the historical structure of the building really was repaired and reimagined again,
just to keep the historical frame around us and so the ceilings are paneled
and we have gorgeous moldings on top of them, and they just create this
very classical, almost palace like flair. Over here. We have this little powder room which has everything you need,
and it’s open for guests. and of course, it also has some art. Now let’s go up into the first floor. Through the stairway. We come to the first floor And this floor
completely belongs to the adults. There’s a bedroom, There’s a generous walk in wardrobe,
and there is a little office. And of course, there is also a bathroom. And we are already
standing in the bedroom. And here we have a very dreamy design
with a color palette that is kept in soft beiges, browns and a little bit of olive green like in the living room. and the bed has an upholstered headboard,
which just makes the team extra comfy. and to both sides
we have travertine bedside tables Over here we have an entire wall that is a mixture of memories,
family photos. And you can see that
you don’t have to separate these things. But you can just really create
one big collage with special memories of your life over here. There is, makeup table and a mirror
so you can get ready. And it’s just a perfect little situation. In the corner there is a large open cabinet that is a very unique triangle
pyramid shape, and it is also filled
with a lot of different personal items. and having a curated way
of showcasing your personal items Always creates a very purposeful
look doesn’t make it feel like it’s just clutter
all over the space. This bedroom also has a small terrace. Let me show you. So after you woke up, you can just go outside onto your little terrace and take a seat
and drink your morning espresso and just take in the peace of Copenhagen and become atmosphere. Over here we have the walk in wardrobe an entire room
has been dedicated to the wardrobe And you can just see that there is a love
for fashion and for design. And on one side there is an open shelf
to display shoes, bags, earrings, or just your personal belongings
that you want to show to the world. And on the other side,
we have the proper wardrobe where all of the clothes are hidden,
and the same friend who also designed the kitchen also created
the entire cabinets throughout the house. so there’s this very coherent design
throughout the house that still feels very luxurious
and thoughtful. and of course, to stay true to the historical
classical structure of the building. When this house was renovated,
They decided to go for this fishbone parquet That just creates
this very classical atmosphere. now let me show you
the absolutely gorgeous bathroom. This is the bathroom
And then you can see that no detail has been abandoned or forgotten here. Both the light switches, as well as all of the doorknobs are also made
from this brass looking metal, and you just have this very coherent
design. This bathroom is like out of a fairytale. It’s absolutely incredible. The entire floor,
as well as the shower area is covered
in this really richly veined marble. and the marble has hints of red, white and gold colors. And it’s absolutely incredible. I really, really love it. And of course, just to top it
off, over here, we have a freestanding bathtub
that is brown and super modern. It is right below the window. So the light is flooding in
and illuminating the space. And to the other side We have a vanity of very light wood also constantly custom designed
for the space with two around sinks. So everybody has their own sink. And like in every other room,
there is art that perfectly sets the scene and the mood. Now this is the office of the House, and the office is filled with a large desk
that is also made from travertine that just extends
into the nook of the window. So you just have this gorgeous view
of your garden and of the trees swaying from right to left. and it is accompanied by a vintage Eames chair. and the leather has a lot of cracks. And I love that it is in Polish,
but that you can just really see the history that this chair went through
and is absolutely incredible. To one side we have a cabinet
and there is art placed on top of it. And on the other side
we have a large shelf that is mostly open and it is filled with books of art
and architecture and design. And also
it is full of personal items and decor, and you can just really get lost
within the details and to create a more of an informal office
situation, there is a sofa and on top of course there is more incredible
art of the art is placed. This is the top floor and it is just for the kids. So the hallway actually
has a double function. And we have the small soccer
table placed in it. So it actually is a place
where you can play with your friends. I don’t actually know the name in English. All that comment below if you know. And this is the first bedroom. The historical beams that hold up the house have been exposed,
and you just have these old historical wooden beams
that span from one side to the other side. And you can just really get a sense
of the tilted roof and of the architecture of the place
and to all sides of the room, there’s windows
that let the light flood in. there is a very playful low profile
so far that is just perfect for kids. and a strongly veined green marble table. And of course, there is a proper desk
to learn. a large wardrobe that stores all of
the clothes as well as a sleeping area. And you can see that
this is just an incredible area and space for kids to grow up in Now, let me show you
the second kid’s room. this is the second kid’s bedroom. And it is quite similar,
like the first one. Only it has one big difference,
and that is that we have a ladder that goes up basically into the attic. And there you have another bed where
you can sleep over with your friends. It’s just a really fun little extra
that just makes the space really stand out. This is the kids bathroom, and it is a more simple version
of the bathroom that we have for the adults. There is the strongly veined marble and a vanity with one sink,
and these golden brass details And in the corner of the shower,
we actually have a piece of driftwood standing that is a sculpture
that the artist found in a flea market. So all of the art that we can see in
this apartment is just been accumulated throughout the years. Definitely go and check out the artist’s work in the description,
because he’s absolutely incredible. And if you like this video,
you will love this one up there. So if you want to learn
how to create these gorgeous color palettes that we always see on
this YouTube channel that I wish you, now’s the time to join the color course,
because not all. You should join the color course. You should join my interior
designer color course because that’s exactly what we will
what we will cover. Because the course includes nine modules,

your course, you will get a 30 minute consultation with me and. And to top it off, at the end of the color

  1. The house is beautiful both inside and outside. I like the simple and elegant chandelier above the dining table, the dining chairs in the kitchen and the Barcelona chairs in the living room a lot. I also like the master bedroom. The rooms are so spacious and airy. The garden room is beautiful and cozy.

  2. Another great video of a beautiful and chic home. This decoration reflects the owners elegant personality. Well, the dining room, table and chairs, is very hospitable. The owner also has an obvious weakness for the younger Brigitte Bardot. The little family's house (ideal for Hygge) and dreamy garden awaken warm memories of my granny's fairy tales. 🌺🌻 My only objection is the brown color of wardrobes and office bookshelf. I would prefer the natural wooden color, which is more compatible with the view outside the window and not so dark. Anyway, thanks again Jane. I always enjoy your presentations and take lessons.🎯💌

  3. Wonderful, original home again! You really present very special interieurs! Love it, thank you, danke, merci for the visit! A bientôt

  4. I love this apartment, especially the travertin dining table and chairs in the kitchen. And you know what, I just happened to order the same chairs and a wooden table from &Tradition last week. I'm so excited to get them.

  5. While the house is beautiful and the kitchen looks beautiful, to have your cooktop so far from the sink and the fridge ….well, it makes no sense to me. You will be carrying all kinds of things quite a distance.🇨🇦

  6. The outside garden house, is all I’d need. Thonet chairs are my favorite too, so beautifully designed but, not so comfortable to sit on for a longer lingering dinner. I hope I’m not being a Debby Downer. Please forgive me. Nonetheless, i hang on to mine because they’re just so beautiful.

  7. I can't say that the classic clashes with modernity; on the contrary, they are matched in harmony. For all open spaces, the house looks like a warm, cozy country home.

  8. Gorgeous black and white photograph? really!? That's Brigitte Bardot, please use the name of the icon. Also, it looks naked without rugs.

  9. That game is called table soccer, foosball, kicker or babyfoot. In Belgium we usually call it kicker, I guess because the little men kick the ball 😆
