Suggestions for managing lack of grass and making the yard more serene! Single mom, Young kids, north Florida..

Looking to give the backyard a refresh. Flooding from a hurricane last year killed a bunch of the grass and it hasn’t come back. Thinking some type of ground cover under the playground area etc. plants along fence? No sprinkler start and the small pump house must stay. Not exactly sure. From of house has agave, cactus grass and white small stone pathway. Any tips for back of house are great too!

Semicircular couch by fire pit and chairs etc. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!
