Santa’s Letters Inc., a Sussex County nonprofit supporting local children and families, is launching its busiest season with a community fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 6, in partnership with Inland Bays Garden Center.
Each holiday season, the nonprofit ensures children receive personalized replies from Santa and adopts under-resourced families across Sussex County to help provide a joyful Christmas. A new satellite mailbox at the Inland Bays Garden Center offers an additional location for children to drop off their letters this year.
To support those efforts — especially after organization’s annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser fell just shy of $11,000 raised — Santa’s Letters will host a Dec. 6 fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A suggested donation of $10 per family is requested, and attendees are being encouraged to bring cash.
Santa will be available for photos from 9 to 11 a.m., and families can enjoy cocoa, games, music, crafts, a scavenger hunt and food for purchase from Fiona, the Kristina’s Kitchen food truck. Santa’s Letters merchandise will also be available for purchase.
According to Santa’s Letters Inc., the organization is “deeply grateful” for its partnership with Inland Bays Garden Center, whose team “immediately embraced the opportunity” to support the event and host the seasonal satellite mailbox.
Letters to Santa should be dropped off by Dec. 15 and must include each child’s full name and a legible return address to ensure a personalized reply.
The nonprofit will also appear at the Town of Ocean View’s Old Town Holiday Market & Tree Lighting on Nov. 29, offering another opportunity for families to meet volunteers and submit letters.
Organizers emphasized that “every donation, whether financial or a gift for a child, helps brighten Christmas for local families,” and extended their thanks “to the community, volunteers and partners for keeping the magic of the season alive.”
