Please help! My succulent has grown into something very not succulent looking! Is this okay? / normal? Watered once a week plus lots of sunlight

Thank you for posting to r/plantclinic!

It looks like you may be asking about a cactus or succulent. In addition to any advice you receive here, please consider visiting r/cactus r/succulents for more specialized care advice.

A common problem with cacti and succulents is etiolation. This is when a succulent stretches or becomes leggy. Reply with “!etiolation” for advice.

When they get tall like this, it’s a sign of etiolation. It’s looking for the sun and doesn’t have enough light.

Even if you feel like it’s a lot of light because you can see while it’s bright, the plant still might be starving for sun because experience is light differently.

Basically you need a grow light. SANSI is my favorite brand. A lot of the grow lights on Amazon are cheap and not actual lights–you might as well buy a high quality one if you can.

Water less often and put it closer to the window, or outside if it’s not cold where you live

Looks like it’s in locked in a wooden crate haha, definitely trying to reach that sunlight you can see through the gaps.
