I have two brussel sprout plants, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but I can tell you the aphids love them. Then the ladybugs love the aphids. I get no brussel sprouts to love 😭

garlic and shallots; then spinach and mushrooms.

I’ve always grown the basics, trying a few new beans and squash every year. But I haven’t gardened in the last 2 years. I let the chickens in to take it completely down, scratch and dig, and fertilize it. The perfect time to let the ground go fallow for a couple of years. I’m ready this next spring though.👍🏻

I have PTSD about sprouts due to eating a mouthful of homegrown when I was a kid, then seeing they were full of boiled aphids and caterpillars.

I once asked a farmer what I could do with “the stalk”.
He said “Bludgeon someone. That, or soup.”
Oh, I’d be in heaven. 💚
