[Music] hello guys and welcome back to being Mrs Frasier thank you so much for clicking on today’s video as you can see we have a lot to get done today so we’re just going to go ahead and jump right into this I um for those of you that are new here we live in Florida and we are wanting to do a lot of gardening now you can garden pretty much year round here um the summer crops are very limited compared to other places in the United States but I thought this was a good time of year to share this project anyway um down here our soil is very Sandy so it’s much better to just grow um in buckets Planters you know rais beds all the things so my first project um is going to be this bucket planter now I’m fairly new to gardening I have tried my hand at it um I remember the first year I used like buckets when we lived back in Nebraska because I was terrified to plant anything in the yard um because I knew we had a lot of snakes in our yard and your girl is terrified of snakes so I tried doing like um bucket planting on the deck and my kids every time a little bit of fruit or vegetable or produce would start growing they would pick it now this was years ago so they were little they didn’t understand um like they do now I’ve also got you know a couple years after that I decided okay I’m going to I’m going to buy a bigger planter I’m going to dry my hand again with I always start with like tomatoes peppers uh like bell peppers and um strawberries and so I did go ahead and get those things and for the most part everything went pretty well now again it was just up on the deck so it didn’t go great by any means um but we did have some produce for that year but now that we’re in Florida we’ve been here for 2 years and your girl is really wanting to get back into this again I am kind of late um in the season for Florida for a lot of um a lot more options for produce but we can do some like bush beans pole beans um peanuts grow really well here uh in the Florida heat sweet potatoes and stuff like that so for today’s video though we’re going to go ahead and get into um the buckets we’re going to go ahead and build a frame if you will for them now I’ve seen this everywhere this seems to be a very popular um frame to be building and so I really thought I would go ahead and just share because I’m sure there are others that are looking to do the same thing I say I’m doing all right I’m doing just fine but I’m scattered scattered and I cry when you’re not around because it kiss all right so we got the pieces all cut for the flower the bucket holder I don’t know what to call it but the pieces are all cut I got them kind of set up um so you can see the 31s are these longer boards here that’s a 12 and then a 19 and the 25 1/2 pieces are right here so I kind of laid them up in a your image um opposite of each other I’m going to go ahead and screw one down and then I’ll put it up next to it so I know where exactly to put that and kind of measure and everything to make sure it’s where it needs to go but we’ll go ahead and get these screwed down and into place when we fight something how we always make up threatened by a breakup is this how we going to fit it out cuz we are the way we are we’ll never change yes we we’ve been here before cuz we scream fight hate cry no one’s ever breaking down yeah we do it everything wrong yeah we ruin everything we push slam through down we hurting but we’re just too scared so we do it everything wrong yeah we ruin everything everything St you and I so different yet alike we are always on the edge when we love our hearts are open wide but when we hate it’s like a big explosion shaking our devotion how we ever going without this planter does use eight buckets so I did go to Lowe’s and purchase everything at Lowe’s um I know prices veryy depending on where you are at in the United States um or I don’t even know if there is there Lowe’s in Canada or Mexico I don’t really know um I know you know Canadians have some of the same stores we do I but I don’t always know so um but it’s I’m sure you could go to any hardware store I mean even around the us if you don’t like Lowe’s you can always go to Home Depot um or Ace or you know whatever hardware store you prefer so we’re just going to go ahead get all these um boards screwed together I am using decking screws so that way they can withstand the elements because you know it’s outside um down here in Florida we have a lot of salt in the air especially here on the East Coast because we are close to the ocean and so um things rust really bad um along with you know the humidity and all that so I wanted to use something that I know would withstand our weather down here and so I highly recommend that if you do build this that you use some sort of like decking or outdoor all weather type of screw wrong yeah we ruin everything cuz we scream fight hate cry no one’s ever breaking down yeah we do it everything wrong yeah we ruin everything when we push slam through down we hurting but we’re just too scared so we’re doing everything wrong yeah we ruin everything everything stop love is like a roller coaster but I’m trying to hold on I don’t want it to stop even though we fight sometimes and it feels like a war zone so I initially got this idea off of Tik Tok I will definitely leave um her link down in the description for you guys if you guys are interested in that um I will leave all the measurements and everything down there as well um if you are interested in pricing go ahead and leave me a comment and I can try to remember I can go through and pull everything out um you know piece by piece you know the wood the the potting soil and all that if you are interested in specific pricing just let me know um but this project was definitely affordable now did you NE do we necessarily need the planter no you could totally just use some buckets line your fence or wherever you know that gets full sun and just you know put them in the full sun um I I guess I shouldn’t say necessarily full sun but you’re looking for like 6 to 8 hours of Sun down here in Florida our sun gets a little bit hot since we are closer to the Equator so down here full sun doesn’t really mean full sun um so just as long as they get a good amount of Sun so that way the plants or the seeds can germinate and then everything can start growing um but I do like the idea of this planter because it kind of helps keep everything organized and together with the buckets and that and then it just kind of you know I don’t know I I like the the looks of it I think it looks really good and I can’t wait for you guys to see the finished product um and up on the house it just I I feel like it just kind of pulls everything together it looks nice and I cannot wait for everything to start growing love you a little bit more love you a little bit more love you a little bit more how do you move on when everything is wrong I’m trying to find a way to get you out my head don’t know how to goope I do want to note that these are all by uh 2x4s they’re actually 2×4 by 8s we used nine of them to create this project we probably could have went up to like a 2×1 and maybe go down a little bit on how many we actually needed uh because one board literally only Cuts like 25 in off of it so I’m sure we could have just like maneuvered things around to make it work but this is how the directions were told to me and so this is what I decided to do we also um are not using any like cedar or or any wood like that if you are raising or building a raised bed um something that your dirt is actually going to go into you’re going to want to use something a little more sustainable um like and untreated you don’t want any of those chemicals that they treat these wood this wood with um to go into your crops into your produce stuff that you are going to be eating um I know that there’s a big disclaimer on this in you know a lot of people go back and forth on what is correct and what isn’t I personally wouldn’t want to take the chance but it’s totally up to you I know that um like the FDA and USDA and all those lovely government agencies have changed a lot of ways they have used chemicals and stuff in wood so definitely do your research before building any type of raised bed um if you’re going that route but this is just the pressure treated because our dirt will not be touching um any of this wood I see but you it’s what you doing it’s making me feel like falling yeah falling all righty guys so it looks like everything is good to go um I think all that we need to do is paint everything but the buckets look like they fit well so I need to wait till it cools down though it is hecka hot down here in Florida so we’re going to go ahead and get everything painted up um and then I also need to you know drill holes in the buckets fill them and we’ll get to planting [Music] falling in love you set my wheels in motion I’m going crazy for you I still like the ocean I can see you want this too cuz you’ve been looking on me all night trying to figure me out I just want to let you know and I ain’t playing no games baby it won’t change I only want you I want to kiss you before the sun goes down it’s what you’re doing making me feel like I’m falling and when you moving I can hear my calling there’s no one else here that I see but you it’s what you doing it’s making me feel like I’m falling yeah I’m falling in [Music] love so as you saw I just drilled some holes in the of the buckets now I feel like that’s enough holes for drainage I I don’t know maybe I should do like one right in the middle I don’t know maybe I’ll do another one right in the middle I’m not 100% sure but I just used a 1/ qu in um drill bit to do that just to add for some proper drainage so next up I’m going to go ahead and take out all the buckets and get this painted now you could stain it if you’d rather um but anything to basically protect it from the elements so I’m just going to use some paint let’s see I just have some leftover paint um from our front door when I painted that and so that’s all I’m going to use is this um exterior paint from vpar the Duramax uh I don’t know all weather adhesion yeah whatever um so it’ll match a front door but that’s okay I don’t really care just anything basically to protect the wood [Music] I want to kiss you before the sun goes down I want to kiss you before the sun goes I did go back in and drill some more holes out of the bucket I just wasn’t sure that four was quite enough like I said I used a/4 inch uh drill bit I was kind of going back and forth between a/2 in and a/ qu in my husband was like definitely just use the/ qu inch and just put more holes and it’ll be good to go so that’s what I ended up doing I used a qu inch drill bit and I did end up putting a few more holes in each bucket just to allow for some proper drainage um we are going to be coming into our rainy season rainy season here in Florida and so I just want to make sure that my produce um have good proper drainage so that way they don’t get like root rot or anything like that so also um I am like I said I’m using an outdoor paint but you could totally use a stain or a sealer for the wood um or just you don’t even have to necessarily use anything if yours is maybe if your um bucket planter is inside of like a covered area um where ours is not it’s going to be out in the open and so I definitely just wanted to make sure that it was sealed I made made sure to get the paint like down into the cracks and crevices and right around the screws real good um just wanted to get everything really good and covered so that way this lasts for quite some time for us what is given the doors have been sealed just breathe in the poys and in hope God is real a big you Violet flowers if I get there faster than you and then with the magic of editing I am almost done painting this took forever I swear and I will say if you do plan on painting I did use almost this whole quart of paint so um also after I got done doing all the sides you can see we did end up flipping it upside down and uh my youngest daughter wanted to help so she did come out and finish painting the entire thing for me um which I truly appreciate cuz your girl like I don’t know uh bending over and getting all in certain positions is much easier for a 12-year-old tiny little string bean to do um compared to what a mom can do here so she did help out I love that my kids will get involved in my projects with me um you know a lot of times I won’t fully show them here on YouTube because they don’t choose to be filmed this is my channel uh but you guys will get you guys do get glimpses of them every now and again um and with this gardening I really want this to be a family project uh I want so my goal for all of this I would really love to just be able to be self- sustaining as far as produce goes um we won’t ever be able to have you know like cows or chickens or anything like that here on our property at this house uh you know maybe someday we’ll be able to afford some land a farm or something like that and then maybe then we can have chickens I don’t think we’ll ever have cows cuz your girl can’t do the slaughtering thing with cows um but um as far as chickens go I can totally go for some eggs I would love to have that or even like goats for milk and stuff like that but you know that’s big dreaming because property down here in Florida is extremely expensive and so I don’t know I don’t know if that’ll ever happen but you can definitely Homestead and kind of create your own self- sustaining Garden on a very small property um I think we have about a quarter of an acre here and so we have quite a good range um or a good size yard to be doing this uh the only issues like I said is really that our soil is basically garbage and so um yeah so there’ll be a lot of bucket gardening and stuff like that if you guys are interested definitely follow along because I do plan on doing more of the bed gardening coming later in the summer maybe early fall so that way we can do some other crops that are more winter crops here um which I know are more spring crops in other parts of the country but yes so I definitely have plans for big Gardens so hopefully your girl can pull out this green thumb because right now I don’t know where it’s at toes under cover agents of the Beyond gra beyond all righty so the buckets are full I need to Top This one off over here but we have an open bag somewhere so I need to ask Fred where that’s at but um we need to get this moved the buckets will be put inside of there once it’s moved I was going to put wheels on this so I bought some Wheels let’s see don’t mind the mess so I bought some of these caster to actually put on the bottom of this to make it easier to wheel about but the more I think about it I might just return these cuz one these are going to get rusty I mean they’re outside they’re in the elements especially here in Florida things just rust really bad and so I don’t think I’m going to be using these I think if we just if I have help moving um this and putting them in there if we ever have to move them for whatever reason um I think it’ll be fine I don’t think we’ll need casters a lot of it we have a gutter that would have to go over the the sidewalk is crooked you know whatever the reasons are I don’t think the casters are necessary especially because they were like 50 bucks for all four of them um and so it we could just get that money back which would be fine so um but like I said the buckets are all ready to go I need to Top This one off here um and then I need to get help to move everything and put it into place and then we’ll go ahead and get into [Music] planting hand building castles out of sand reaching for the grand Willow a line we lose track of time that up high now we close right so the other day I picked up some peanuts um you can this is how you grow peanuts I know it sounds crazy but as long as they are raw um uncooked you can grow them and then I’m also going to try to grow some of these red beans and then I have a bag here that also has some Northern Great Northern beans in it I’m hoping that these will grow as well right now it’s really hard to grow a lot of the vegetables and stuff like that here in Florida because it’s getting so hot but I’m hoping that I can um that I can try these and see what happens so we’re g to go ahead and give it a try gardening is all about a learning experience if you fail you failed you just try again and try something new move on go from there so we’re going to give it a try we’re going to see what happens and we’re going to cross our fingers and say a prayer Dre breasy we go easy easy on our tiptoes undercover agents of the other Beyond gravel beyond all a bigger scale of world in h as we go I wouldn’t want it any other way no dreamy Breezy we go all righty so I really just want to be super organized with my gardening um so I kind of thought I would show you what I’m going to do y’all this might be kind of crazy I don’t know but I thought it would be helpful um especially for beginner gardeners like myself so I picked up this uh three- ring find I found it on Amazon um I got red because honestly red was the cheapest so that’s the route that I decided to go um and then I just have a bunch of different seeds here a lot of these are herbs that I picked up from um I actually got these for like a dollar on the Walmart app um I forget I think I have like a coupon or something that I used I got some lofa seeds what I which I am super excited for I’ve wanted to grow loofah for years and lofa grows really well down here in Florida so um we’re going to go ahead and try that I got um a variety of some cucumbers Tomatoes merry Golds some bell peppers um I would love to actually go full out and get a bunch of different seeds just to prepare for the entire year so I know um you know basically so I’m prepped and ready for the up coming season so the next thing I did I went on um my local State website it’s actually the University of Florida’s website um I did Point print out a poinsetta uh sheet because last year if you guys have been around you guys saw that I decorated with poinsettas on my front porch and I ended up just letting them die and throwing them out cuz I didn’t know what to do with them this year we’re going to plant them I’m super excited they grow um poinsettas are a Mexican flow from what I gathered and it um it grows really well here in Florida so we’re going to try to grow that um this year so I did print that out but the rest of these are just um like the month so December and then I print it out basically every single month April you know January February March April May June July August September October November December so um and this is just for the Edibles that I can plant in my area so as you can see if you’re from Florida this is going to be much more helpful to you um but I’m sure other states have these similar um types of charts that you could find you’re probably just going to have to Google it um but I will leave the link for these in the description if you are uh local um or a Floridian that you will have these available to you um so they separate Florida into North Central and South we are Central here um but I am I’m like in between 9A and or I mean uh 9B and 10 a so basically it’s like a 5 degree difference though from what I’ve gathered um but I love that this just kind of points out all the different things that I can print or that I can grow let’s find what month we have right now what month are we in we are in May so let me see if I can find May here March [Music] uh let’s see April and May so right now it is getting very very hot here in Florida so planting things you know it just kind of varies on what you’re going to plant but according to the sheet so I just look up the sheet and it says you know that okra um so planting from seeds I can plant okra um I’m not sure how to pronounce some of these but peanuts and peas um and those are kind of the things that I can plant right now and so anyway like I said I just wanted to go ahead and get this organized so I did pick up I found these PL plant seed whoops um little like divider sheets the little plastic sheets on Amazon um you can actually probably use like baseball card sheets I don’t know if they’re quite big enough like these ones so these will fit my lus seed ones you see there um and then even these which are even smaller than the luffa seeds if you can see like they’re much smaller but they all fit in these size and then I think that these are more like baseball sized so it’s a little big but um yeah so I will leave the link for all this stuff um Down Below in the description for you guys I also picked up some just clear some regular clear um protectors or sheet protectors so that way I can put these all in here um and just keep them safe from any damage or anything like that I am going to be printing out some like monthly C calendars to kind of print out um and just kind of plan better from month to month what I want to plant because these are the things that are being suggested but you know some of these things my family won’t eat um I mean right on here radishes and turn ups my family will not eat that so I think this is also just a generic type of thing um I also want to plan out or like uh do printouts on planning more specifically like when I need to uh plant seeds so I can grow little starter plants and stuff like that uh but it’s just kind of a beginning um Gardener’s Bible if you will so I thought I would kind of share that with you guys and give you guys an idea of how to organize your garden um plants and seeds so let’s go ahead and get everything put in [Music] here AG [Music] of I am super excited though to use this gardening Bible if you will I I I don’t know I’m I’m just super excited I’m super excited to get all this started and going and just to see what happens I know gardening is is a lot of um you know guess work uh just try it and if it doesn’t work out try it a different way so I am super excited to do all that so if you guys have any tips or tricks or anything with the gardening situation definitely let your girl know down in the comments I would appreciate it so so much I really think that this planner Bible whatever you want to call it um will definitely help me out a ton though and I’m so grateful that the UN University of Florida did put all this guess work into you know documents that you can just print off um I’m hoping those of you that are in other states can find similar documents for your Gardens as well you know especially for those of us that are beginners and don’t really know what we’re doing um or if you move you know you move to a different state back home I know what um needs planted in win but down here it’s all a new game so I’m super excited to get this all done I like I said I really hope that this helps organize everything for me I plan on you know getting the vegetables and stuff like that just kind of buying things here and there as um the time goes on as the weeks go on and maybe even just adding some of those to my grocery cart um so when I do my grocery pickups I can I’m getting a few seeds here and there and just kind of prepping for what’s to come um I love the idea of that as well because then you know you’re not going out and spending a bunch of money all at one time time it’s kind of spread out for you uh because I know right now times are really hard with budgets and so you know just kind of getting a few seed packets here and there I know I think it’s Walmart has them for like0 50s um I know seeds get upward it’s much higher than that but definitely just a start and I hope that this really is helping um Inspire some of you guys let me know down in the comments uh what you guys have planting in your Gardens this year oo you know me better than you it’s like we’re stuck you won’t grow up and I’m getting tired of waiting it’s like we’re stuck you won’t grow up and I’m tired tired all righty so here is the book um and kind of how it turned out as you can see I put the pages in here now these are just edible plants I can plant off um flowering trees and just like flowers um so I probably will go back and do that just so I have those in case I do um plan on planting more flowers I do have um Merry Golds as a natural like um bug deterrent so and I know there’s some other flowers that I can plant um like c-plant with things to keep other bugs away from them so um anyway this is just kind of a start very beginning beginning um and I just thought it would be kind of helpful so anyway let’s go ahead and go through this um I did have um I just put a couple of these uh seed holders throughout um each month I definitely could add more um if I need to I probably will order another bundle so that way um once I do have full-blown seeds and full-blown planning going on um I will have enough uh packet or uh what are these called I will have enough spaces basically for all my seeds to go so I did just kind of go through um I found what I needed like here um cucumbers we can plant cucumbers in Central Florida in January so I did go ahead and just put my cucumber seeds in here um and then I just added a couple behind each month here so you’ll see that um once you get into like the summer months though uh where it’s really just getting too hot to plant anything besides like you’re just very minimum I did only put um just one for now like I said I do want to order a few more so I probably will be doing that uh just to add in there but um that way to like I said if I want to add some flowers and stuff like that to my Gardens because at some point I want to move on from just bucket garding to I would like to have actual full grown like raised a raised bed situation ation so um yeah all right so there’s that and then like I said we just kind of get um through all the months here and just keep going basically and that’s basically how my gardening Bible is going to work um there’s all your herbs and everything like that so there is that I will probably at some point make a cover um um just you know just to make it cute and fun and at some point I really hope to have this completely full and make the three ring actually useful um with just tons of seeds and
