I truly underestimated how much work this would be, but too late to turn back. I also did not tape off the wood features… that will be a fun mistake to remedy later.

I started with this light gray coat so I could tell it apart from the bare black foam. Next coats will be much darker and will finish with dry brushing various browns all over.

😮‍💨I feel this, and this stage was the absolute worst for me – ended up worth it but I felt the same going so big my 1st viv build

Fwiw it’s looking great and exactly how it should be for this phase. One day this will be the coolest part and the one you wanna show off the most, and the one that laypeople will least understand. Just go slow and enjoy the work. This part is what makes you feel so good every time you look at the finished product.

Source: my first job was building display aquariums, terrariums and pluvariums for exotic fish, amphibians and reptiles for pet stores and restaurants. I also did one really big pond.

  3. This looks amazing though! Your hard work is gonna pay off this is gonna be kickass, you gonna put a lil guy in there?
