Today I TRIED to take up sod (I think I spent about 3+ hours really trying)….so that was a major bust but I have a lot of perennial plants I’m putting into the ground and building it all around this trusted “vision” I have for the end goal.

Stay tuned and SUBSCRIBE to follow along and see my end vision come to life (we are getting there!).

Zoned 8a Plants (some of them were not even labeled):

Chinese Silver Grass
Some kind of tall perennial grass
Penta
Phlox
Jolt Cherry Dianthus
Some type of Coreopsis
Coleus
Azalea
Knock Out Roses
Begonia

And things and stuff; I am trying to get better at cataloguing my “growing” “collection.”

So, thanks for being here XOX!

Who wants to go outside? All right, you guys got to behave, though. It’s got to be nice. Nice. Come on, guys. Flitches. Let’s go, Fleches. [Music] Whoa. What’s that? Oh, [Music] today we’re at the beach house and I’m planning on doing some hefty work today. I bought a ton of plants yesterday at this nursery nearby that I really like. We’re just going to start to map out what the area is going to ultimately look like. So, we’re going to take the grass up. We’re going to plant and we’re going to go and do some just random cleanup around the yard. Today I should point out I have plastic plants right here and it might be a little bit cheesy, but something about potted plants I haven’t really quite mastered. I haven’t figured out at all. If you’re new here, my name is Shaunie and I make videos about little improvements that I’m making in my home and garden. I don’t do any dramatic before and afters. It’s just more peaceful videos about making small improvements and seeing a big change over time. So, I just want to encourage people to really enjoy their spaces. Do the tiny things that you can. I work a full-time job. I have a very limited budget. So, I do personally love to make these videos because I love to look back at where things were before. And there are times when I don’t think I’m really making much of a difference until I look back and see how things used to be. So, I just want to encourage you to get out there if you have those weird areas of your home or garden that haven’t been touched and and just get a little creative. [Music] Come along. Okay, we did a major plant haul. I got a lot of clearance plants at the nursery yesterday. Just a wide variety of perennials, different things for different purposes. I’m going to start first by mapping out where everything is going to go. I’m going to do this in kind of a weird way because I’m trying to visualize what the future of this garden looks like with these plants incorporated. So, I am going to be drawing out some uh lines on the ground. I might get these guys out of here so I can work without Hey, hey, hey, hey, get Okay, guys. Let’s go. Let’s go. Come on. You guys are getting dirty. Come on. Thank you. Go inside. All right. Oh, no. Oh, [ __ ] [Music] Okay, I have struggled over my plan on how to take all the grass out because it’s a lot and bulk pickup is not as frequent here as it is in our other house. I’m going to start by mapping out my pathways for the garden structure that I want to build. Kind of start to place plants around there as it makes sense. [Music] Okay, I have to visualize this as if there’s no pre-existing I just need to imagine all of this as one big mulched area. So, no pre-existing lines. So, do I want my structures to be straight or do I want it to be at a slight angle? H okay. three-foot pathways. [Music] I’m not expecting people to walk right along the fence here. There’s just going to be a a more natural pattern to go this way. So, this is all going to be ground cover plants over here. They walk in this way. That’s 3 ft right here. And there’s also an opportunity to walk this way. So he uses corner [Music] kind of. All right. It’s got to clear the path that is going to be going in here. I kind of want it right here. The biggest thing would be the structure. Nah, I don’t like it angled. I kind of like the idea of it lined up with the house that you could enter it from the side and it be like would be like 8 by 8. 6×6 is not big enough [Music] right in the middle. So that way I could exit out this way. I go in that way. I can go out either way over here. I really like this idea. [Music] Okay, I need to have a plan for this instead of hacking away enthusiastically. [Music] No, no, no, no. This is just going to take [ __ ] forever. Plan B. I know if I keep doing this, it’s just not going to do anything. So, I’m just going to plant stuff. [Music] I don’t actually know what I’m doing here. I’m just kind of doing a a mix of some stuff. I’m I mean, I don’t know. Seasoned gardeners might look at me and and laugh about whatever I’m doing, but I’m learning. So, I’ve got a mushroom compost. I found some 555 manure. I also picked up some Osma coat. Just have to trust myself and go with it. It’s It’s not going to be perfect and it’s going to take time for everything to fill in. [Music] [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Oh [ __ ] Can’t get it out. The irritating thing about buying clearance. Oh my sitting there a while. [Music] [Music] Sorry. [Music] [Applause] [Music] All right, I turned off the I turned off the video because all this was so boring and repetitive. I mean, I always getting bored. I know it looks like absolute crap right now. Trust in the vision. I trust [Music] Hey, I decided instead of procrastinating getting all the mulch out here cuz it’s going to be a lot. And I’m just going to mulch the plants that I’m putting down right now. I made the mistake of using pine bark nuggets when we laid down mulch. And I’ve learned that those float. So, a lot of them float away when it rains a lot. Oh, that looks so much nicer with the hardwood mulch. [Music] Heat. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Heat. [Music] [Applause] [Music]
