Garden Rescue’s Lee Burkhill has shared he is on the up after a difficult year of ‘trauma’.

The BBC gardening expert and designer explained to fans that he had been ‘distant’ for the past year because of ‘all sorts of naff things going on’.

While he didn’t elaborate on his struggles, he shared that he had stepped back from the things that bring him joy and had a been doing the ‘bare minimum’ to ‘let the waves settle a bit’.

He shared on Instagram: “I’ve woken up today and it seems and the creative flame is switched back on to pilot light again!! After a year of struggles and that ‘I’ve not go it in me to do that’ mode.

“Sometimes you just need a year to do the bare minimum and let the waves settle a bit after trauma.

“I mean it’s not like I’ve been sat twiddling my thumbs by any means, but still. I know I’ve slowed right down on the creative bits that bring me joy….teaching others to garden.

“So I’m slowly warming back up to defrost mode ready to hopefully help more people to engage with their gardens and feel their own confidence grow!

“Phew. I thought I maybe hurtling to the great middle of the road beige buffet of life for a hot damn minute!”

He added in a video: “I just wanted to let you know that I’ve been distant for the past year or so with all sorts of naff stuff going on but I’m back with a bang.

“I feel my creatve flame is now on low rather than not on at all. I’ve been updating a lot of content on my website. Got loads of plans for my YouTube channel.”

He continued: “There are 300 plus gardening guiides on my website but over a thousand articles I’ve written about everything to do with begginer, intermediate and advanced gardening.”

“There’s a lot lof stuff happening and I can’t wait show you what’s going up in the next six months,” Lee added.

His fans were quick to support the star, writing: “Great to see you back you have been missed.”

A second added: “Glad you’re feeling better today, was worried about you yesterday, sometimes we just need to step back and recharge ourselves. Take care, love and hugs xx”

And a third commented: “Sending you love and light one day at a time and keep on keeping on it’s been fab watching all your creative activities with bees,beautiful jewellery making and of course gardening magic keep doing the things that nourish you and don’t worry about everyone else look after you.”
