KEARNEY, Neb — The Eagles of Garden County are State champions.
Garden County completed their undefeated season by beating Southwest 41-22 on Friday evening at Ron and Carol Cope Stadium.
The Eagles raced out to a 33-6 halftime lead thanks in part to senior running back and linebacker Wilsie Lober.
Lober finished with 105 rushing yards, two touchdowns and added two interceptions.
Starting quarterback Kole Fornander left the game in the first quarter with a knee injury. But the Eagles offense didn’t skip a beat.
Houston Billeter threw for 258 yards and three touchdowns, but was picked off three times in defeat.
