Ants “farm” aphids, but at the very least they’ll displace soil. For containers you can aerate yourself.

They’re probably farming aphids. Check your plants for aphids, if you see sticky stuff or curled leaves, that’s probably why the ants are there. They don’t usually harm the plant directly but the aphids can.
