Frinton & Walton Heritage Trust has scooped up some top awards for their volunteers’ achievements this year.

The group took part in the Royal Horticultural Society’s It’s Your Neighbourhood competition this year.

Volunteers worked hard decorating the Crossing Cottage Garden, the Frinton Railway car park garden and the raised flower beds in Station Approach.

And because of this, the group was awarded the highest trophy of an outstanding rating.

John Barter, chair and trustee, said: “The Trust’s volunteers are grateful that their hard work in Frinton has been acknowledged by Anglia in Bloom and the Royal Horticultural Society.

“We worked hard to take part in the It’s Your Neighbourhood competition gaining the highest award of ‘level 5 outstanding’.

“The judges felt we had met the criteria for community participation in working partnerships, environmental responsibility, conservation, heritage, wildlife, recycling and gardening achievement.

“We overcame difficulties by enhancing the area through management and good gardening practices.

“Friendships and wellbeing have been formed through the events and activities of the Trust, who welcome visitors to the garden throughout the year every third Tuesday each month from 10am until noon.”

David Foster, chairman of Frinton in Bloom, said: “Working in partnership with the Trust over many years I know the benefits their work does for the town.

“Frinton has been blossoming in the quality of improvements, with its new vegetable bed, wildflowers, woodland area and pond.

“All in all they have done a job well done.”
