The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) award recognises ‘Outstanding Sustainable Gardening.’
The award acknowledges the group’s commitment to sustainability, inclusivity, and community well-being on a national scale.
Founded in 2019, Holt Community Gardeners began as a small group of residents aiming to transform neglected spaces into thriving gardens.
Since then, the group has grown steadily, welcoming new volunteers, working with local organisations, and expanding its green initiatives.
Holt Community Gardeners were nominated for the RHS Community Award by Wales in Bloom, supported by community gardening advocate Peter Barton-Price.
Their nomination highlighted the creativity, resilience, and environmental stewardship of the group, showcasing their ethos and achievements on a national stage.
They aim to protect wildlife, conserve resources, and encourage participation from individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

“We extend our deepest thanks to our volunteers, who have given their time, energy, and expertise, and to our supporters, whose encouragement has fuelled our progress.”
Looking ahead, Holt Community Gardeners have pledged to stay committed to advancing sustainable practices, fostering community engagement, and championing environmental awareness.
They have invited all to join them through volunteering, learning, or supporting their project.
A spokesperson for the group added, “The 2025 RHS Community Award marks a proud moment in Holt Community Gardeners’ journey.
“It shows what we can accomplish by working together and caring for our world.
“Thank you for believing in our vision and helping us make Holt a beacon of sustainable gardening and community spirit.
“Together, we will keep growing, learning, and leading the way towards a brighter, greener future.”
The RHS Community Awards were established to acknowledge groups across the UK making a difference through sustainable gardening.
