As fans of the aesthetic, we can appreciate a beer garden done simply and correctly. You need a few basics – space, comfy seating for chatty drinkers and beer. Across the globe, beer gardens do it that way, but at Axelrad Beer Garden, it’s done better, the best in Houston for a second straight year.
There’s space at Axelrad, tons of it, indoors and out. The place is large enough for huge crowds to dance beneath the stars to a Selena tribute band or whatever else is on its eclectic concert schedule. Comfy seating? Say less. Axelrad has it in abundance, including some hammocks, just in case you’re feeling especially relaxed (or exhausted, maybe from doing “the washing machine” to “Baila Esta Cumbia”). Axelrad has a fine selection of beer from local, state and national breweries and also mixes some mean cocktails. You’re getting some diversity here on the drink menu but particularly with Axelrad’s programming, the thing that separates it from the simple beer garden aesthetic. Ten years in, Axelrad is still growing, having recently added a new stage to its sprawl.
Sure, you could just camp at a picnic table at Axelrad to catch up with friends – a favorite pastime; but, if you need more, the venue hosts market nights, open mic nights, comedy shows, movie nights, the afore-mentioned concerts and more. You get more than the basic beer garden blueprint, which is the Houston way.
