ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – Friendsgiving at the Garden was held at 5th Ave. Community Garden in Albany on Saturday, Nov. 15.
On Facebook, Farmer Fredo deemed the event a success.
He said 280 families were served with:
360 bunches of collard greens packed280 produce boxes filled with cabbages, sweet potatoes, bell peppers, onions, and oranges packed200 bags of pre-cut collards provided
Additionally, over 40 volunteers assisted in this effort.

Bridging New Life Ministries for the Southern Thanksgiving tasting plates consisting of collards, chicken, sweet potatoes, pecan pie and cornbreadNew North Florida Cooperative for supplying the pre-cut collardsThe over 40 volunteers who helped direct traffic, load cars, welcome walk-ups, support seniors, harvest greens and “show pure community love”Our Fresh Roots Rising Youth Crew who “worked with leadership, professionalism, and heart. Y’all are the future!”
On Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 10 a.m. at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Albany, more produce, meats and nonperishables will be shared with the community.
