Step into any nursery or gardening center in town and ask to be directed to the “glowing tulip seeds” and you may receive a look of profound befuddlement.
But you wouldn’t be totally wrong for inquiring, even if your question is offered in a wry and whimsical tone. For there is a Southern California garden where glowing tulips, thousands of them, do gorgeously shine, at least over a few cool and colorful weeks.
It’s Descanso Gardens, of course, the lovely longtime home to Enchanted Forest of Light.
The seasonal spectacular, which finds a vivacious variety of illuminated displays and installations placed fetchingly around the garden, opens Nov. 16 for its big run.
And it is, indeed, big; the sizable displays, from artist Tom Fruin’s stained glass houses to the geometrically joyful HYBYCOZO sculptures, will be on view through Jan. 4, 2026.
On view most dates, that is; check the calendar now and purchase your tickets at the Descanso Gardens site.
